    Sprint PCS -

I'm in the New York area. Is there any way I can "predict" the costs
involved for a call to the coast of Oregon. I don't believe this is to a PCS
    area?

There used to be a map on the Sprint web site of the USA showing the areas
of Sprint coverage. Is it still available?

Rick, you don't need to be worried about calling someone outside of the SPCS
coverage area in the states. You just want to make sure that you, the
caller, are in a coverage area.

Now, if you are saying that you aren't in SPCS coverage, it's probably going
to cost you $0.50/ min for roaming plus $0.25/min for LD. IOW, $0.75/min.
One way to save yourself the cost of a lengthy roaming call is to add the
$5/mo. F&CA (Free & Clear America) option, which allows you to use up to 50%
of the minutes used in a month roaming, including LD, at no additional
    charge.

It shouldn't cost you anything. If you're on a Free & Clear or Fair &
Flexible plan, a call to the coast of Oregon will cost you the same as
a local call. The call just counts against your airtime.

If you're on an area wide plan, then the call will just count against
airtime as long as you're in your local coverage area. Outside of your
local area, I *think* it's 40 cents per minute.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question. Are you planning on going TO
Oregon and making a call there? Or are you IN New York, and calling TO
    someone in Oregon?

The reason I ask is because as long as your phone is NOT roaming and has
service, then the coverage map is irrelevant. It does NOT define your
calling area. If you have coverage, you can call anywhere in the US and
not be charged anything extra, even if that area you're calling does not
    have Sprint coverage.

The coverage map ONLY shows you where your phone will get a Sprint
signal, it does NOT define what is a local call.

Thought I posted this but I guess I missed. -

Thanks for the answers to my question.

I am calling from the New York City area to the Oregon coast. I thought the
LD call had to be SPCS to SPCS in order to only get the air time charges.

Ah, with this additional info, we can unconfuse you a bit. .

    First off, I'm guessing you are on a F & F or a F & C plan with the PCS2PCS
option. I'm also guess the person in Oregon is with SPCS also.

When you call from NYC, there are no extra charges for you to call your
party in Oregon. Only minutes would be used on your account.

If your party in Oregon is in a SPCS coverage area when you made your call,
then the call would be a PCS2PCS call and wouldn't count against your
    minutes.
