Does the Sanyo 8200 operate as a modem for Internet access etc., from a
    laptop?

Can it use the same cable as the Sanyo 4900 for data?

Is there a cable that can charge over the USB connection as well as provide
    data services?

    Thanks!

Should be. Sanyo stardardized their connection ports, going all the way back
    to the 4900.

There is, for certain models, not sure about for Sanyos. You might google a
    search for charging USB cables.

Sprint phones are not meant to be used as modems...see their Terms and
Conditions. Once they see the kilobyte usage at the end of the month,
    you'll have one hefty bill!
