Anyone with an A680 should consider getting the new software version
YA28. It fixes some key problems including missed/dropped calls from
data activity (which I had been complaining about for a long time).
Also fixes background noise/beeps issues during calls and some SMS
fixes.

Re: New software version for Samsung A680
You have to get it at a Sprint store. Not all stores do updates so
call first if your not sure.

Re: New software version for Samsung A680
Thanks, Larry. I had my A680 updated to software YA28 and PRL 10026 on
4/6/2005 at the SPCS store at 843 Mission St in San Francisco. Instead
of hand writing a ticket and receipt, Carla looked up my phone number in
the computer, scanned my handset's ESN barcode, and printed out an
"eTicket Work Order." After 20 minutes of browsing the newer handsets
on display, I had my updated phone.

No. My phonebook and "in camera" photos seem intact. I had no photo
assignments, but I had some phone book assignments of the A680's
built-in cartoony images and they're intact.
Unless something goes very wrong, a software update shouldn't erase your
programming.

Which is what everyone always says, but it is also good to know nothing
went wrong.

Re: New software version for Samsung A680
Steph -
I'd guess that since 1997 with SPCS, and with 4 lines and many phones,
I've brought in handsets for updates maybe 15 or more times (the stores
are conveniently located for me, and once upon a time you had to bring
in the phone for a PRL update as well, which now can be done Over The Air).
I can remember two failures, probably both with Samsung 3500's. One
time they fried the phone and gave me a replacement on the spot, and
another time I think they got stuck and the only way out was a complete
reset. Neither was a problem for me because since 1999 I've used
software to back up my phonebook to a PC (then Paragon FoneSync, now
Futuredial SnapSync), so I could reload my phonebook into the handset.
