Hey, I got a quick question --
I'm using a Sanyo LS-7300 and I'm wondering about the PRL. When I check
the "Phone Info", it tells me that the phone has PRL 10024. I was under the
impression that 10028 is the current PRAL, but I have been unsuccessful in
gettnig Sprint CS to flag the phone for an update.
First, I called *2 and tried the magic words "PRL Update", but Claire
didn't understand and I spoke to a representative who (I assume) didn't flag
the phone, because here, a week later, and 6 or so calls to CS, I still have
PRL 10024.
Next, I tried emailing CS, and they told me to call *2! Here's the
reply I got:
>>Dear Earl,
>>
>>I understand your concern regarding the PRL updates and would be glad to
>>assist you.
>>
>>To best address your concerns, please contact us by dialing *2TALK from
>>your PCS device. When you hear our virtual representative, give the
>>verbal command that best describes your issue. You will be forwarded to
>>the appropriate support group. Our specialists will be glad to assist
>>you.
>>
>>Looking forward to serve you.
>>
>>Damien
>>Sprint eCare
So, am I incorrect about what version of PRL is current? Or is there
something else I can do to get it updated?
Thanks,
Earl

The most current PRL is 10028. Don't know why the rep didn't flag your
account. When you call again, say REPRESENTATIVE and ask the rep to flag
your account ... again. After it has been flagged, you can call *2 again a
few minutes later (and when you have a strong signal indicator), and it
should recognize you need an update and do it in a minute's time.
Depending on which phone model you have, the phone will reboot, and it
should show the new PRL in your phone info screen.

Re: PRL
Claire no longer understands the words "PRL update". When they changed
to the new automated system they dropped that command from the list.
So like Bob said the best thing to do is say "represenative" and you
should be able to get a rep who will flag your account. If you get any
hassle just hang up and call right back and get someone else. Or you
could take your phone to a Sprint store and get the update while you
wait.

Re: PRL
I used to have the same problem but solved it for the last several PRL
updates by saying "technical support." Haven't had a problem getting
the account flagged correctly since. Good luck.

In the past, an itneresting trick that worked for me is to call and sign
up for the America roaming option, if you haven't already. Addition of
this option seems to force the CSRs to flag your account for a PRL
update, regardless of whether you have the current version or not.
Once they've done that, hang up, wait a few minutes, and then call back
to do the PRL update. Once it's done, hold for a CRS and have them
remove the America Roaming option, if you don't want it.
