Sprint is the actual manufacturer of this device. Here are two websites:

    Re: PPC-6700

Despite what Microsoft says on their website, Sprint isn't the manufacturer
of this phone. Sprint is the carrier but doesn't actually make any of the
phones that it carries. The manufacturer is HTC (High Tech Computer
Corporation) out of Taiwan. This phone is also referred to as the HTC
Apache. Do a Google search on both "HTC Apache" and "PPC 6700", and you'll
get several hits for reviews of this phone.

Sprint is not in the manufacturing business.

It is available on the business site. They are actually currently letting
regular consumers get them now too, but it is still only on the business
    site.

    Ppc-6700

Just got off the phone with Sprint and the PPC-6700 will be avaliable for non-buisness accounts Oct. 10th

I wonder if one is able to hook it up to a laptop for infrequent
tethered use like you currently can with 1x Vision plans (even though
you're not supposed to do it).

Mine (which admittedly is a business model) came with the wireless modem
software on the device, and drivers on the included CD for Windows XP
specifically to do this. I was on the 'net from my laptop through EVDO at
    200+Kbps earlier tonight.

It is stealing unless you are paying for this service.

I am thinking of buying it too. What is your experience so far?

Does it hold on to signal like Sanyo phones?

    How is windows mobile 5.0?

Anyone know if the software for previous version of PocketPC (4.20) will
    work on Windows Mobile 5.0?

Currently I have HP IPAQ with Intel PXA255 processor with PocketPC 4.2,
and Sanyo phone. I am thinkg of replacing it with PPC-6700.

    Thanks.
