EVDO

Hi,

I am looking for some basic information regarding EVDO. New to the
technology... I understand Sprint and Verizon are two of the bigger
competitors.

I currently have a Cingular cell (old AT&T) and a Sprint cell phone.

Basically looking to ditch my Verizon land line and DSL service. I know
that EVDO is not meant to be a replacement for fixed broadband... but
looking at the options anyways.

Correct me if I'm wrong... you would need a PC card which would connect
to your laptop in order to get service from the wireless provider.
There is the potential for "broadband like" speeds.

What about the Sprint option of using the phone as a modem?
How fast are those connection speeds?
What else would I need to work that?

Anything else I should be looking out for?

Any help would be appreciated.

If Google is your mother, consider Wikipedia your father:

Re: EVDO

Just so you know, Sprint has an offer for using the phone as a modem (PAM).
You can use a phone as a modem without signing up for this, BUT it will cost
$0.02 per KB. Not pretty.
