    WTF ? I had about 12 messages saved that I was going to somehow record to
    save, and now they are down to 4 ?
    Are they known to simply delete voice mail after a certain amount of time ?

    Check to see if there is a time limit on how long a message can stay in
    your box. Also, sometimes they might screw up your saved messages.
    There was one time when all of my messages were erased by Sprint. They
    said it was because they were doing "server maintenance."

    I saw a bit on the local news (in NE Ohio) that showed a woman who had other
    people's voicemails on her phone. She was also wondering who had her
    voicemails. The carrier was Sprint.

    I googled for a couple minutes but couldnt find a link.

    there is a 30 day limit to how long voicemail can stay inside your
    voicemail box after it is saved. Unread voicemail is even a shorter
    amount of time, 15-20 days. This is not uncommon in the industry, as
    space on the voicemail server would become a problem if there were an
    unlimited amount of time the messages were kept.

    Makes sense, I just assumed it would stay until deleted by the account holder
    who, after all, is paying good $$$ for the service.

    Mr. Miner... I think the poster is saying that he / she thinks he / she is
    paying a fair price for the service. And I'm not so sure about voice mail
    being a free service. I think it's part of the service plan. I know that my
    old cell phones from previous providers no longer provide voice mail
    service.

    Voicemail is an optional service, that does not cost the consumer more
    if he has it or less if he does not. very much like the ability to send
    and receive text messages, or call forward, or caller id. The price
    paid monthly is actually for the ability to make and receive calls for
    a given amount of minutes. Everything beyond that is optional on the
    account unless you are paying a certain amount extra per month to have
    it, ie. 300 text messages per month for 5.00

    Mine, if I choose to save a voicemail, says it's saved for 15 days.... check
    to see if there's a way to change the length of time one is to be saved.

    Uhh, text messages DO cost money, to both send and receive. In fact
    starting next week, it's $.15 per message, send or receive, on Sprint.
    unless you have a text messaging plan.

    1000 text messages is about the same bandwidth as a single second of voice.
    Sprint is only charging by the message in order to sqeeze every last dime
    out of their customers.

    No, it is not.
    It is part of the package paid for on those monthly things called bills.
    For instance, if Sprint was to drop VM and lower my monthly fee, I would
    still drop them like a hot potato, and so would just about everyone else.
    So this is a feature that attracts people, of course they will not "drop it",
    and if their system gets bogged by people saving too many messages, well then
    perhaps its time to consider upgrading their storage capacities.

    Maybe you see it that way, I don't.
    If sprint decided to start charging extra for VM, then I would decide to
    look into other options.
    It was included into the package I signed up for, and is part of the
    package you pay for.
    Just because it may say "free" on your invoice does not make it so.
    This is just corporate word play.
    And, I never use the service, but call forwarding isn't exactly comparable,
    as you end up paying with double minutes should you decide to use it.

    I am guessing you are about as dumb as you look if you believe corporate
    word play.
    Are you also stocking up on ginzu knives because the commercials tell you
    that $19.99 + shipping is just an oh so great deal ?
    And do you really feel that the super mini potato peeler that they throw in
    for "free" is really "free" ?

    My point - VM is part of the package that I signed up for.
    If it was not, I would not have signed up for said package.
    If they change their minds and decide to charge extra for this "free"
    service, that is no doubt magnamously offered from the glowing kindness in
    their little corporate hearts for their loyal and appreciative customers, I
    will look at other options.
    If all cell companies collude, and decide to start charging seperatly, then
    I guess I'd just have to live with it.
    Until then, I shall continue to look upon this as a bought and paid for
    service, no matter what my invoice might tell me.

    Obvious to non airheads, yes - And apparently difficult to comprehend for
    word mincers who believe a corporation when they tell them they are getting
    something for free.

    ok so vm is part of your package, as if this gives you rights to
    unlimited space for storage?
    maybe instead of reading the invoice, someone should learn to read a
