About time. They really need the Motorolas to better compete with the
other carriers, especially in time for the holiday season. The RAZR
has been by far the best selling phone of all time. Every major
carrier has enjoyed it's success except Sprint.

These Motorola phones are effectively obsolete, compare their cameras
and on board memory with other new models. Cingular has had a V3 for
18 months, and often its now FREE with a new plan.
Cingular has moved on to the V3i, which the V3m (just a CDMA version
of the V3) doesn't match up to.
These Moto phones don't even yet show on the Sprint PCS website, it's
clogged up with the flimsy plastic Sanyo phones. These Moto models
can't even be ordered till "Early November".

Nice one Phillip! Do you ever say anything positive? Or do you always have
to post a "dig" at something or somebody?

Flimsy Sanyo phones? In past years, I've had the Sanyo 4700 (wife's phone -
still in use after 6+ years), the Sanyo 5300 (just retired after 4 years of
use, but still working nicely) and my new Sanyo Katana (which replaced my
5300), which is one sturdy damn phone. The silver colored Sanyos might show
a bit of wear with scratches etc, but they still held up and worked. Per the
prior history of SPCS & Motos, I'll take a Sanyo 100% of the time.

Come on Bob ... it is Phillip and he is trolling, as usual. He has no friend
in any of the cellular groups ... or the DBS groups either.

Well, if that was Phillipe (note the "e"), and I didn't recognize that new
user name, it just shows how inactive I've been on this newsgroup ... You
are right of course, that hoser has no friends, save for his right hand ...

Exactly my response. I've been using Sanyo's for at least five
years, and just the other day I saw a 4500 I gave to a friend years
ago. He's pretty intransigent about his phone service, so he's stuck
doggedly to it, and he doesn't particularly treat his stuff well.
That old Sanyo is a little scuffed, but works today as it did
when I had it. Every Sanyo I've owned has been solid, reasonably
stylish, and ultimately dependable.
Just in case anyone's making purchasing decisions. Sanyo = not
at all flimsy. Best Sprint phones IMO.

And just a point regarding the RAZR and SLVR. Initially, Cingular had
exclusives on BOTH phones. NO ONE else had them for at least a year.
Sanyo's been exclusive to Sprint just about forever...
The knife cuts both ways...

I have had my Sanyo SCP-3100 about 4 months and have dropped about 4 or 5
times, hard. Still works.
My only complaint is you have to be right on spot to hear properly. Any
slight movement causes me to
miss what is being said as it fades dramatically and I don't hear for
doodley ****. Very aggravating.
I like my wife's LG phone better for sound quality but my Sanyo receives
signals better.
It's an ok phone. | | | |

Or, Sprint never liked them, for whatever reasons, but are finally caving
to pressure from customers demanding particular models they see available
at other carriers. Sprint seems to try to offer many phones exclusive to
Sprint, and maybe they assumed they could get along just fine without the
Razr.

That's been a common complaint with Sanyo phones, you're not
alone there. I'm a huge fan of them and even I've disliked that. I
once asked a good tech about that and he said that each of the phones
SPCS offers is engineered with unique sound characteristics that
appeal to different usrs. In his opinion, Sanyo wanted their sound to
be "focused and loud" to the user, but not spill out to others around
him or her. Kind of a privacy/civility thing.
Two things though: I find you very quickly get used to the
"sweet spot" and go right to it in my opinion.
Also, I'm using an 8300, which has a similar profile to the
3100, and I find that once you get used to that spot, this newer Sanyo
delivers better sound overall than did its predecessors. I haven't
tried a 3100 though, so maybe that's a different situation.

That was the problem. Sprint did think they could get along fine
without the most popular selling phone of all time. They were wrong
and decided to jump on the bandwagon.
