All of a sudden I cannot email from my palm 700p to a Comcast email
address -- I get the following error on the bounced email.
Diagnostic code: smtp;554 IMTA05.westchester.pa.mail.comcast.net comcast
68.28.27.84 SenderScore BL009 Blocked for spam. Please see
http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/inde...il_Policy19053
I called comcast and of course they said the 68.28.27.84 IP address is a
sprintpcs server and it is getting black-listed through service called
SenderScore for some reason or other and they have no control over it.
So naturally I called Sprint thinking they would be interested in the fact
that their mail server is getting blacklisted for spam and consequently I
cannot send emails to a comcast email address. I guess I should not have
been to surprise to find out that they showed very little interest in
finding out more about the whys. I kept getting really strange replies like
"we can send emails to comcast from here so there must not be a problem" or
"if you can sent emails to other addresses other comcast then the problem
isn't with us."
After 6 hours of this today someone finally decided they would make an
attempt to get the ip address removed from the list with the understanding
that there is no guarantee that if won't be put back on the list sooner or
later. What gets my dander up is they don't seem to care why it was put on
the list in the first place.
So what's the story here. I really need to send email to comcast from my
cell. My home base has a comcast address to which I send email from the
road.
I just do not understand the lack of interest. Can anyone give me an sprint
email address at sprint where I can send this info and have someone take an
interest? Maybe a phone number to a responsible party at sprint who cares
about things like this?
Any suggestions -- other than Verizon or another service -- I understand
that choice and quite frankly I'm contract free and thinking very seriously
about it.
Thanks for listening,
JW

Sign up for a free Yahoo!, Google, or Hotmail account and use the free client
software available from them to send your e-mail. (At least I *think* they
have free clients for Palm phones... they certainly do for Windows. It's a
real shame that the Palm seems to have decided to no longer build phones based
on their own freakin' OS. If such clients aren't freely available, I believe
that Google [gmail] will still let you use POP3 for free, which works with
Palm's built-in mail program... Yahoo! requires you to have Yahoo! Plus for
this, which is $20/year, although well worth it IMO.)
Worst case you can point your phone's browser to, e.g., m.yahoo.com and send
e-mail from within your browser.

It's the low-level flunkies you're talking to; I'm sure someone somewhere
within Sprint very much does care, since they realize that sooner or later
they'll have more support costs as people call them up to complain.

First I think you're handling Sprint the wrong way on the phone. Noone you
call from any of them on the phone gives a ****. However, I think, and
have used very successfully, the "frontal attack" method of going to the
main store and standing right in front of them, within punching range as it
were. Unable to just blow you off like over the phone, someone must
actually DO something, even if it's wrong.
Go to store, take the time....
Whatever rep you get, ask them to use THEIR phone to send an email to your
Comcrap address. It will, of course, be rejected, putting a stop to the
clone's normal blame-your-phone-for-everything tactic. HIS phone is
defective. When he switches to tactic 12b, blame Comcrap, you whip out the
blacklist you got from a Google search and point out Sprint has been
blacklisted, sitting the ball right in his lap for action without excuses.
Just before you are finally forced to leave as he can do nothing, have him
MAKE A NOTE on your account record in the database that you will start
paying for service again when service is rendered, the return of the email
system to full operation you are paying for. If he threatens to cut you
off for not paying, simply explain to him, as you note his badge
information, you'll haul Sprint into small claims court to restore any lost
business, wages, etc., from the disconnect. You'll be quite amazed at how
sympathetic small claims judges can be over sellphone disputes......
......He can't send Comcrap any emails from his damned Sprint ****phone
either....(c;

Another great tactic, once you've been blown off, is to call 611 then ask
to speak to the retention department. Their interest is churning,
customers leaving for one reason or another. This bypasses the blowoff
department in Bangledesh so you have more of a chance to connect with
someone who knows something, however vaguely, about Sprint's sellphone
system. Once you're in retention, a little begging to do something the
first couple of calls is in order, with a subtle hint about that Verizon or
T-mobile email ISN'T blacklisted by Comcast.
You might ask to speak with the retention department from the phone on your
rep's desk at the main office, if he tries to blow you off. Don't forget
to tell retention who he is so they can fix two problems, today.
