That's normal, as my 6200 does the same thing. Mine seems to flicker
as you describe whenever it's communicating with the network (not all
the time, but it seems to flicker every couple of minutes or so when
idle (but not every two or three seconds when its talking to the tower
to see if it's being paged by the network). Also, I believe the
up-arrow key is just designed to not have a backlight associated with
it because mine, too, is that way, as was my old 6000 not too long
ago. So, in other words, you're phone is A-OK. And, what a deal for
    fifty bucks! Good luck...

I haven't had any flickering problems with my 6400.

It not very noticable under most lighting, I only notice it when
the room lighting is low. Actually, I never noticed it until
someone brought it up. That's for the Sanyo 6000.

    Re: sanyo 6400..*****een question...

My wife has a 6400. I still have an old Sanyo.
The problem that I have with her phone is that
the "font" (in computer terms) that it uses
draws the characters *so thin* that it is hard
to read. The characters on my old Sanyo are "normal"
    width -- no problem reading.

Is there a way to change the font on a 6400?

    Re: sanyo 6400..*****een question...

I got this from the online manual at Sanyo's site:
    http://www.sanyo.com/wireless/handse...ne_guide_e.pdf

There are four font size settings for the message notification and browser.
To change the font size, follow these steps:

    1. From the Standby mode, press Menu OK to display the main menu.
    2. Highlight Settings and press Menu OK.
    3. Highlight Display and press Menu OK.
    4. Highlight Font Size and press Menu OK.
    5. Highlight either Notifications or Browser and press Menu OK.
    6. Select your desired font size.
    > Press [Preview] (right softkey) to display a font size example.

    7. Press Menu OK to set the selected font.

    Hope this helps.
