do the people who have this phone love it, hate it, feel ambivalent
about it? I am thinking of adding a new phone for the wife and I saw
this special on Sprint's web site, $50 for the phone, so I thought it
would be nice for her since it is sooo small

    Opnions please

If you bought it, would you buy it again?

    thanks in advance

    Re: sanyo 6400-Opinions?

First of all it's a bargain--it's new--it's vision capable, cool looking
and like you indicated appears would make a great lady's phone--the
only thing I have noticed is that compared to my 4900, the speaker
volume while adequate, is not as loud and I really like the speaker
phone on my 4900, which is why I got the original 4700, which is even
louder-also, if they are closing this one out--wonder what's next--I
bought it as an economics backup--cheaper than an insurance replacement
Neither has a screen as good as the 4700 and battery life may not be as
    good--can't have it all.
advise what you find --also when I bought mine you can take it back
within days-I guess you can make up your own mind.

A lady's phone? I kinda think it might be a real hard working
man's phone. Its small so you don't have to worry about banging
it on anything out in the field or close quarters. Though it
might be hard to hold with welder's gloves on.

Will be getting one next week. If its as good as my 6000, then
it will be a better phone than the 4900 in terms of holding a
    signal and received voice clarity.

I don't think so - it's the only phone that a guy could carry in his
shirt pocket. That having been said, I also think it's a great phone. -

Buyt of course it is...very small. But all the guys
that I know that use those clunky Nextels wish they
had a small phone like my 6000.

When I have it in my shirt pocket only the retracted antenna sticks
out, so people think it's a pen. I have an alligator clip phone strap
that I bought in Japan that keeps it from hitting the ground when I
    lean over too far.

It's "way cool" to wear a headset and talk on that phone while
wandering around the house, because the phone's light weight gives the
    impression that it's not there!

It fits nicely in a jeans or stretch shorts knife pocket. When I'm on
call (I forward work's Sanyo 4700 to my 6400) I carry it all weekend.
It doesn't add any weight to my bath robe, doesn't weigh me down when
it's in a pants pocket, nor produce a bulge that could be
    misconstrued. ;-)

I can leave it in an eyeglasses case on the seat of my parked car.
People think the glasses case is empty since the phone is so thin, so
nobody would try and steal it.

I can also cover it with a collapsed cap, a piece of paper, or any
fabric. Since it's so thin, nobody thinks there's anything under the
    covering.

It also has a sort of "parental" lock, so this would be the phone to
    give to your kids!

I'd only change the ringer volume (needs to be louder) and give it a
    speaker phone.

I hear that a follow up phone from Sanyo will keep the same form but
have a color screen and perhaps a camera. (I wonder if they'll put a
    speakerphone on it.)

Since I've only used the 4700 the first time I was on-call (last
November) I can only say, from memory, that I couldn't tell any
    difference.

4900 compared to 4700--I believe 4700 some better for voice--but the
4900 really goes fast when on data-

    Re: sanyo 6400-Opinions?

I got the 6400 for $49.99 at Fry's yesterday. I could not activate
online, so the CSR waived the fee for the activation over the phone. I
have the A-500 and decided to try the 6400 because, in my opinion,
Sanyo phones are the ones that best hold on to the SPCS signal. I had
the Sanyo 3000 before and that was the best phone I had in terms of
reception until now. In places where I get 1 bar or no signal with the
A-500, I get 4 bars to full signal with the 6400.

But I am not sure I will keep it mainly because of two things this phone
lacks: 800Mhz CDMA and an alarm clock. When I don't get a SPCS signal, I
always roam on Verizon's 800 CDMA, which won't be possible with the 6400
and the phone will go to analog consuming more battery power.

The phone book has a problem. If I enter a number like
*82-1-AAA-BBB-CCCC, the phone will not display the name of the person.
The number must be entered as a 10-digit number for me to see the name.

This phone is vision-enabled and has a b/w screen. The browser seems to
work faster than the A-500's. I don't care about color screen.

The vibrate mode is stronger than the A-500's, which is a plus. Some of
the other rings and melodies are worse and some are better.

6400 is lighter, narrower and thinner than the A-500, but it's longer. I
love its size and shape. It fits well in my front pocket, people don't
even notice there is a phone in there.

I say... if you want a good quality phone with good signal strenght, go
get it! It's just $50 and well worth it!!!
