Today's Circuit City Ad

:-(

Today's is the first one to not feature Sprint PCS. The cell phone
section is exclusively dedicated to T-Mobile.

*shrug*

Fortunately for me, Best Buy's been expanding and made it a point to
open a store across the street from every Circuit City near me. That,
combined with CC no longer carrying Sprint and BB offering reward points
now, means I'll pretty much never buy crom CC anymore.

doesn't a pleasant shopping experience mean anything?

I'd much rather shop at a nice, quiet, CLEAN Circuit City.

I work for Best Buy (not for much longer, hopefully) and it drives me
crazy. The unprofessional attitude is rampant now. The constant booming
bass from three different depts. and the stained carpets. The employees
who sag their pants 12" past their asses and completely ignore 60% of
the customers, etc..

I walk into CC and, even though they're no longer commissioned, I get
help immediately.

If you need a Sprint phone, then shop elsewhere. Otherwise, patronize CC
over Best Buy. If you don't, they're going to go away and Best Buy will
get even worse than it is because they won't have to compete with anyone.

Best Buy is the Wal-Mart of electronics stores. They come in and put the
others out of business.

Re: Today's Circuit City Ad

I only shop at CC if I have to. I find that they are MUCH more expensive
than BB. In my area, BB is a pain in the ass to get to, about 20 minutes
away...but I'd still rather shop there than at the CC that is 30 seconds
from my house.

MUCH more, or just a little more? I'll pay a little more for better
service. If it wasn't for the huge employee discount, I'd never shop at
Best Buy at all.

Re: Today's Circuit City Ad

I was able to get Best Buy to price match the Sprint Store's price on
the 8100 at $99.99. Of course, I am gonna try to get the additional
$100 rebate. ;-)

I guess they don't care much about selling many phones.

Re: Today's Circuit City Ad

Quiet is right. I was there a couple of days ago and there were
almost no customers and almost no salesmen. I has to wait for 20
minutes to talk to someone about DirecTV and that was with the Sprint
PCS rep helping me to flag one down.

I've never had an UNpleasant experience at a Best Buy. Cleanliness and
customer service are about equal at both store chains here in Northern NJ.

Well, I take that back. I do find the "pick your item up over at that
counter, and we'll bring out your merchandise when we feel like it"
policy at older Circuit City locations to be annoying.

Now CompUSA, I'd never step foot in if they were the last retail chain
on earth.

I know what you mean. I use CompUSA when I know *exactly* what I want.
Don't even bother trying to find someone to whom you could ask a question.

Re: Today's Circuit City Ad

Well, I don't pay much attention...but I'd say it's around 10%. That can
be quite a lot when you consider that most of what you buy in these stores
are high dollar items. I've never had any problem with service, although
they do get quite busy sometimes. One thing I don't care for that you
mentioned is that it's sometimes quite noisy in BB. On the flip side, I
hate being asked 10 times "can I help you?" while I'm in CC for 10
minutes. Guess I'm not your average guy, I'd rather be left alone while I
shop ...I'll find you if I need help. I find that in general, the
teenagers that these places hire don't have a clue. I've noticed that
,while not perfect, BB has more knowledgeable people working for them than
CC. Seems like most of the help I've run across at CC is too busy talking
to each other and watching the clock to see how long before they can punch
out and hit the underage parties! In all fairness, CC is not horrible and
they do have some good people in them too. Yeah, I was 17 once too,
where's the party at tonight? ;-)

Re: Today's Circuit City Ad

I thought only my CC was absolutely dead, almost never any customers in
there at all.

BTW, Get DISH, cheaper, more channels, friendlier, more stable. GM has been
trying to dump DirecTV for about 2-3 years now.

Re: Today's Circuit City Ad

I hate BB with their nasty policies and tactics. I once bought a
notebook from them. I returned it within a week and they wanted to
charge me a 20% restocking fee. They said the box was open. What
happened was that the box was opened by the BB technical support and a
BB sticker was placed on the opening. I did not even open the box.

On the other hand, CC a return without a question plus I get 1 month
unlike BB for 2 weeks. It is really a pitty to hear of CC decision to
stop selling Sprint Phones.

Last month my phone ( 5 mths old ) had problems and I went to CC (
extended warranty ) and they gave me the entire amount including the
cost for the warranty straight to my credit card.

What more can I ask for from a store.

Re: Today's Circuit City Ad

It's a mystery to me why consumers ripe for the fleecing patronize b&m
retailers like BestBuy or CompUSA with obnoxious "restocking fees".

CC policy:
"We want to make sure you're completely satisfied with anything you buy from
us. Try it out for 30 days. If something's not right or you've simply
changed your mind, please return it within that time so we can either
exchange it or give you your money back. Since computer technology changes
so quickly, we can only offer a 14-day tryout on PCs and related
merchandise. For a full refund of a product, we'll need you to return the
box, and packaging too. "

Better full-refund policy, but still 2 weeks for computers.
