iPAQ 5550 Pocket PC 2003 and Novatel Merlin 201?

I just received my brand new iPAQ 5550 w/ PocketPC 2003 and my
SprintPCS/Novatel Merlin 201 Wireless card. I was so excited. :-)

Then I tried to get the two of them to actually work together. I got the PC
Card Expansion recognized my the iPAQ, and installed the Connections
Manager. It complained that it wasn't the right version of Pocket PC and
asked whether to continue. I said yes.

The iPAQ recognizes that I've inserted my modem, but the Connections Manager
software and Hi-Speed port utility do not see the Merlin card.

Anyone out there trying this?
Is there a PocketPC 2003 specific version of the Conn. Mge?

Make sure you run the Connection Manager Update program. The latest
firmware and connection manager works fine with Windows Mobile 2003.

I've run the Connection Manager Update and it says that I'm up to date. (How
can I check to be sure?)
How do I update and/or check the firmware version of the card?

I got the embedded VB runtime from MS and installed it.

When I installed the Connection Manager...it wanted to overwrite several
files with olderr versions...I said "NO" to all.

When I insert the card into the expansion pack...PocketPC 2003 recognizes
that I've inserted a card(modem) but the Connection Manager app says that
there isn't a card present.

You will also get that message if the expansion pack isn't fully
charged.

It's fully charged...left it overnight.
