    i see that virgin mobile is the sprint pcs prepaid. does anyone know if the
    "top up" cards have expiration dates (like you have to buy another card in a
    certain amount of days or else your account is terminated)? im in new
    england if that makes a difference.

    the VM account must have "top up" activity every 90 days -
    that's why we acquired one for the house,
    since the other carriers force an update every 45 days...

    not sure if the card itself has an expiration date -

    Did you see this on the net or in the sprint store do you have a link
    for the sprint prepaid virgin
    I did read someplace that you get charged for a call even if the party
    your calling does not pick up but it does look like it is one of the
    cheapest prepaid plans around right now

    The card itself has an expiration date. It usually it about a year and a
    half from the current date. This is independent of the expiration of the
    time when actually added to the phone, of course.

    It works the same as a landline (long distance) call for me. If you hang up
    while the other phone is ringing, you don't get charged. Once something
    other than a ring signal is heard, you get charged.
