Re: On Line Esn changes
My own followup to this thread.
I have had SprintPCs since 1997 when they launched in San Diego. I have
a Pioneer Plan which is awesome. I had spent a little over an hour on
the phone a few weeks back arguing with some "nice" folks in India (call
location V04) to do a ESN swap without charging me, after trying the web
site failed.
The joke was they would only do it for either $36 fee or waive the fee
if and only if I agreed to a one year contract for my existing plan. The
pioneer plan carries no fees and you only pay airtime (with incoming
minute free). It would not have hurt me to agree to it, but it was
asinine.
Finally got to a service center, took an hour wait but the nice rep
changed the active ESN in just a few moments (the phone was already
programmed). And never even entioned a ESN swap fee.

Glad its finally worked out for you, but again, why is a ggood and loyal
customer made to go through this grief?
As one SprintPCS employee decsribes this treatment: "It shouldn't have
happened"

Good to hear that you got it resolved Steph. Nice to see someone posting
who's still on the Pioneer plan as there aren't too many customers on that
plan still. Were you still using your original phone, before getting the new
phone?

That might have been part of the issue, I had the original sony CDM-600,
that was replaced once, then switched to a TouchPoint. Couple of the
single-band touchpoint before they gave me a dbTP.
I had broken down and bought a Kyocera 6035 and had been switching
between the two prior to getting two new numbers with vision.
So I wanted to switch back to the dbTP and dump the 6035.
I learned that only Sprint supplied phones are eligible for replacement
under the pioneer plan, which is fine I understand that. Glad I didn't
find that out while the 6035 was my primary phone though <g>.
So now the dbTP goes with my kids on Mondays and Fridays when they are
cared for by family (some of whom won't touch cell phones). Costs me
nothing, and the phone will qualify for replacement. I am happy again.

And the value and relevancy of this comment to this thread is what?

Re: On Line Esn changes
I did an ESN swap from my A500 to the G1000 using a rep and they did not
charge me an additional fee. There was no mention of it and it's not
on my bill.

It really depends on the rep. Some don't care, some want to make
comissions. The Activation number (which routes to a call center in
India) fights tooth-and-nail to get you to waive the fee, so calling CS
directly is best.

This seems to be accurate and good advice.
However, it also demonstrates how bad and distorted Sprint Customer Service is
that one needs to go through CSR lotto to get an activation fee waived, or a
retention plan, or unlimited nights and weekend minutes.

Re: On Line Esn changes
i did one last week, i bought an a620 and wanted to replace it with my
old phone, the csr said he would wave the fee but that i would have to
sign a new contract, i yelled at him and told him i am not signing a
new contract, he told me to hold and then he gave me some **** anc bull
story that he spoke withhis supervisor and they said it was okay not to
sign a new contract this time. LOL I swear man some of these csr reps
are so nice but some are the absolute worst and scam artists
