told him to look again, then he said "maybe the computer arent updated

Re: PRL 10020 is not available ?
I am such a lucky guy. After reading all this I called *2 from my A460
(firmware VK04, PRL 10019) at about 10:15pm 8/22/03 in San Francisco. I
was planning to ask to have my phones flagged for an update. I pressed
1 for English and then got told I was getting updated. I had never even
called to ask! The A460 got updated to 10020 on the first try. See
menu 9-1-5.
Then I called *2 from my wife's 3500 (firmware VK05, PRL 10019). No
automatic update. I said "PRL update" to Claire. I was in queue for
only a few seconds. I told the rep I was calling to have my phones
flagged for a PRL update, and that one had received it automatically and
one hadn't. I never mentioned "10020". She said she would flag all of
them them, and that they have been having some computer problems that
might have been the reason for the difference. She said for best
results I should be standing still and have at least 2 bars of service.
I thanked her for being so helpful. The entire call, including
Claire, was just under 3 minutes.
I called *2 again and the 3500 got updated to 10020 (see Menu-6-3).
I called *2 from the A460 (now at 10020) and the call went to Claire.
Tomorrow, I'll get the other 2 phones on the account updated.
I've found it's best not to hang up as soon as the recording says the
update is complete. I've had better luck after staying on the line
until I get to Claire or some other main menu. Don't know why, or it
it's just coincidence.

Hmm, maybe people calling in shouldn't ask for the specific version, esp
if the reps don't know it, but as someone recommended, say you have an
older version (10017 would probably be your best bet, maybe 10015 for
older phones).
They don't flag it for a specific version (I have access to that, too),
they just flag it to be updated.
