I believe it. It is something that I personally could care less about. The
Internet (Vision) is marginally useful and what I really want is excellent
voice service and coverage. Camera's are a nice novelty, but we are finally
springing for a digital camera, so the desire to have one on my phone will
be further reduced.

Re: Bluetooth last on consumer wish list
Yea right! I'd love to see the demographic breakdown for that survey.
Sorry the truth is (IMHO of course) Camera phones are Toys. And most
of the "customers" that want them are kids. There are very few
legitimate uses for them and A LOT of places are actually starting to
BAN them for security / privacy issues.
PTT is just about the same. For some businesses PTT will offer a valid
and useful replacement for two-way radio systems. Otherwise, for
personal use it is practically useless. Besides having no practical
use, there is huge potential for PTT to be a severe irritant. I'm
already constantly cringing from the loud ring/beep/squaks coming from
all the Nextel phones I'm around daily. I can't wait to see what a
PITA having the market saturated w/ PTT will be.
Lastly Bluetooth. An actually useful technology for grown-ups.
"Consumers" don't want bluetooth, because they don't understand it and
what it can do. THINK:
--Address book syncing/backup with a computer without having to carry a
bag full of wires.
--Fast internet connectivity from Palm, PPC, and laptop computers on
the go (again without the wires & hassle).
--Wireless headsets (not cords to get tangled in or to untangle when
you are ready to use it).
--Car speaker phone. A lot of big companies are starting to build BT
right into the cars at the factory with this functionality.

I actually found the WLNP statement at the end the most interesting of all.
But no, Bluetooth has gained very little foothold. Partly because every
"killer app" that started to come its way has been overwhelmed by 802.11
technology. That's not to say it isn't useful, but it's unlikely to be a
driving force in sales. If that study is correct, anyway.

Please clarify what is 802.11 technology (excuse the ignorance)

LOL, don't be embarrased. It's more popularly known as "Wi-Fi." A wireless
LAN technology capable of up to 54MBps speed, and part of the knew "hotspot"
Internet access you'll find at Starbucks, Mickey-D's, airports, and so on.

for some great information, and other links to read all about it.

All these points are interesting, but all appeal to only a small niche
market. The one thing that will probably help push the technology a long
ways is the auto integration. Once people realize they can use their entire
stereo system as a big, high-quality hands-free kit, they will start looking
for bluetooth phones. But figure 4 to 8 years before its a ubiquitious
factory option in North America.

In its current iteration Blue Tooth can not be called fast.
Its less than 1/10 as fast as 802.11b

I'd have to agree with that. It just doesn't seem like that survey
included a lot of business users. I think the information for WLNP
would have been different as well had it included more of a business
element. Surveys like that aren't very usefull without having
demographics information included.
