For $4, I bought a 2 3/4" retractable metal antenna on eBay. It seems
to have made a difference on my N400, although I never had any major
problems with it in the first place. I do seem to have better service
in areas that have dead spots.

I think Bad_Monkey was being more precise, Steve, and if so, then he's
right. We operate in the 1900MHz *band*, but the precise frequency might
differ, and that can make a difference when building antennas.

I actually tried to buy one of those, but not from this particular person.
Long story short, I ended up having to file a complaint with PayPal to get
my money back . . .
Maybe I'll give it another whirl.
