Will begin regularly traveling to Alliston Ontario Canada. Can I expect my
PCS phone to work there? Roaming charges? Digital?
TIA

Re: Calling from Canada?
I was in and around Toronto a few months ago. Roaming service is very
robust. There is extensive digital PCS coverage throughout lower Ontario
provided by either Bell or Telus Mobility. I think Canada roaming is
charged at your US off-network roaming fee, according to your plan. I
was charged 39 cents/minute for local calls and 25 cents/min for long
distance, including calls back to the US.

That's very interesting, Trenton. Did it charge against your phone bill, or
were you charged via credit card by Telus and/or Bell?
I didn't think we had roaming agreements up there.

Re: Calling from Canada?
Here's a repeat of part of my post from 8/31/2003:
In late July my wife was in British Columbia.
The bill shows 50 cents per minute in the Airtime column and zero in the
LD column. This is both for calls from Canada to the US and for
incoming calls (which happened to be from the US). I was expecting an
additional 25 cents per minute LD for outgoing calls to the US, but it
wasn't there.
We're on a 2000 minute for $85 Add-A-Phone plan with the $10 included
roaming option (a limited-market predecessor to F&CA).
By the way, my Sprint PCS plan and my Sprint home LD plan have high
rates from the US to Canada. So I called her Prince Rupert, BC hotel
room phone using 10-10-811 from my home phone for 5 cents per minute
plus what looks like a $1 fee per billing period.

Neither MapQuest.com nor MultiMap.com were able to find Alliston Ontario.
Here's a reference to Bell Mobility http://www.bell.ca , who operates a
1900 MHz CDMA network in several provinces. Here's a map:
http://www.bell.ca/shop/en/jsp/conte...docs/on-qb.pdf
Now ask Sprint, how much per minute.

Re: Calling from Canada?
It was charged right on my Sprint PCS bill. I forgot to mention though,
incoming caller ID did not work while I was in Canada.

Re: Calling from Canada?
I agree. You should have no problem roaming in Toronto. I visit the area
lot. If you happen to venture (way) outside the metropolis, you will roam in
analog - and still very robust (puts my GSM phone to shame).
I am charged roaming charges (as if I were in the US) through my Sprint PCS
phone.
Good luck.
