SprintPCS has been losing money, so how is that problem solved?
Improving Customer Service - No
Fold PrintPCS into Sprint and do not report its earnings (or loss)
separately.
And for this slight of hand the Board of Directors voted to Promote its
overpaid President Lauer to CEO.
Amazingly Sprint says:
Under Lauer, Sprint will reorganize its operations to focus on the
consumer market and the business market.
duh - is there any other?

They must have hired some Accountants from Enron and MCI.

This sounded stupid to me too, until I realized that the article was probably
just badly written. Up until now, Sprint has been internally organized
according to local, long-distance, and wireless. The new reorganization will
probably reshuffle these into just two major subunits, one for consumer services
and one for business services.
Can a Sprint employee confirm my interpretation?

It sounds like they're organizing themselves similar to AT&T, with a
Consumer division and a Business division.

Yeah, the stock market- very popular with companies that can make more

services.

but AT&T spun off its wireless, rather than folding it into the parent.

Right. I was just referring to the separation along consumer/business
lines.

Mabey combining the stock just makes it look more attractive to
investers.. Who wants to invest in stoke thats around $5 a share that is
rate just above junk..
They have been talking about recombining the stock for years, even when
I was working for them, and before Len became president and CEO.

Know what's really interesting? Nowhere in the article does it say the two
companies are merging. Only that they are realigning internally within each
along customer needs lines, rather than strictly along product/offering
lines. The two companies have always operated very closely together, even
when SPCS was split out.

Certainly, as I'm sure the MarketWatch story would say if I were willing to
register (and I'm not), that's on our minds. I don't think it's ever *not*
been there, as we reported in our own press release on the matter:
"While we have no timetable for recombining our tracking stocks, we continue
to believe, as we said at our annual shareholders meeting, that a
recombination of the stocks is likely at some point. As always, we clearly
remain committed to doing what is in the best economic and operational
interest of all of our shareholders."
It's a possibility, maybe even a likelihood. unlike what Philly said,
though, it's not a done deal.

The story was taken straight from a Sprint Corporate Press Release, and not
made up like your posts.
Why would SprintPCS issue the press release if it wasn't a for sure thing???
SprintPCS will be folded back into Sprint, and no one will ever know again how
much money its losing.

When I worked for Uncle Peat, and they were going to merge with Ernst and
Young, it was a done deal for months, according to the US Chairman who left
companywide messages on our voicemail once a week. Then, all of the sudden,
it wasn't a good fit anymore.

This is correct. The company is grouping its sales and support into two
divisions: individual-purchasers (IP) and corporate-purchasers (CP).

They said they're *considering* it. Maybe you should read the press=20
