Here's a question for Rob or any other Sprint employee who posts here:
Do you know when will the Nokia 3588i be available directly through
Sprint (either on the website or through the accessory hotline)? Have
you seen one in person yet? How does it compare (size-wise) to the
3585i?
Thanks,
Eric

Most of my stores had them as of yesterday. Same size as the 3585i, but
a silverish color and has a color screen.

Thanks Adam,
I just checked the site late last night and it wasn't listed but hadn't
gotten a chance to check it today.

Tech Geek,
I currently own a Nokia 3585i. Do you think that it is worth the
upgrade to the 3588i? It doesn't really bother me not to have a color
screen, but the built-in sms system is what is the real drawing power
for me when Sprint implements it in the fall/early winter.
Being a Nokia phone, and knowing how much their phones are sms
friendly... and that the 3585i originally had sms in it until Sprint
made them take it out... I was holding out hope that a software upgrade
could enable this feature once Sprint begins to offer it. But I doubt
that would happen. It's too bad, considering some sources saying that
the 3585i was Sprint's second-best selling phone the past couple of
seasons.
Is there enough difference for me to upgrade to a 3588i? Do you know if
the phone gets any better/worse reception?
Thanks for your help,
Eric

You've been given all the responses I'd give. Except for one: I got a
call about one just three nights ago. So it *is* starting to get out
there. And I agree with you, that MO-SMS is going to sell and sell
hard, I think. Once we implement it.

In my opinion, they're identical with the exception of the color screen,
SMS, a few games etc..
You said the color screen isn't a biggie for you. I douby there will be
a software update that will make the 3585i SMS compatible.
So, is SMS worth the $150 to you?
They seem to be identical in the tester (performace wise), but I could
easily guess the battery life isn't as good on the 3588i as it is on the
3585i for the color screen (might not be much of a difference). Same
size & shape, too.

Same great reception as the 3585i and a message section is enabled.

Color screens require more power than mono screens, and shirten battery
life.

Re: O/Siris: When will the 3588i ....
I don't know about that. The screen on the 3588i only lights up by the
light behind it. When the screen goes dark, the clouds background I
chose is still there very dark with the time, date, sig. strength and
battery level. I think that Nokia came up with a way to not use extra
power for the color screen.
