Was interested in Sprint PCS with Free & Clear America. Website says
to call, which I do and get stuck on hold. I wait 15 minutes or so and
    then give-up.

Why the secret pricing? If prospective customers have to wait this
long, what does this say about their customer service?

What does Free & Clear America cost? I'm thinking of getting the 700
minute plan with the F&CA option.

    It's not secret pricing ... As I understand it, it's a $5 or $10
monthly option (not sure of which). As to your on line hold time, it
happens around this time of the year, every year, when SPCS releases
    new plans.

I also understand that F&CA is not available everywhere, but only in
the major markets. You might try posting what area you live in, and
one of the on line CS folks who post here can see whether it's
available in your neck of the woods.

Sprint apologists on here deny hold times are ever that long.

    Whatever you imagine, it's worse.

Likely because its like buying an extended warranty on a new car, they want to
    rip you off.

Duh - If its predictable like that you put more people on to answer the phones,
unless good Customer Service is a low priority at Sprint. Oh, thats right, it
    is.

Anyone know if it available or has ever been available in the Boston area ?
I called and asked: they said, somewhat cryptically,
"based on your zip code, it is not available in your area." He wouldn't tell
me if it was offered in Boston.

On the contrary ... Many a folk has said that hold times increase
around this time of the year, because of the promotion plans offered
by SPCS, especially from Nov to Jan. It's a bit earlier than in the
past, but SPCS did just release a new set of plans, which might
    attract a number of calls.

F&CA is not a rip off, for those folks who go on the road roaming, or
where they are on the fringe areas. My daughter is in college in a
fringe area and where a ton of students have coverage through SPCS,
Verizon, ATTW etc, and having that option is a moneysaver for yours

Just where are these people suppose to come from? You act like there
are a lot of folks held in reserve for times like this. Does any
company have a reserve of CS employees ... in any industry?

From what's been mentioned here, it takes over 5 to 6 weeks to train
CS employees. This is not where you can put John Doe into a chair and
answer calls one day after they've been hired.

You wouldn't know that from the way Rob answers questions.

Time-Warner does it every year at Xmas time, they're called ManPower
Temps. But Sprint has Customer Service as an necessary eveil, and a
    corner to be cut.

If you don;t know what it is you don't understand it, you're just
    covering for Sprint.

RIGHT: Sprint is getting lots of calls from people saying : I WANT TO
PAY MORE, GIVE ME ONE OF YOUR NEW PLANS.

Get real. Wait times have ALWAYS been excessive for SprintPCS.

No, I'm not Phillippe ... It's been mentioned here in this newsgroup
sometime in the past two days. I don't remember the specific amount,
hence why I put in both amounts.

I don't know where you are at, but in Chicago it's $10 a month. Just
make sure they don't sell you a LG phone. (not are they single band,
they are absolutely the worst product ever made)

Location is Seattle. I need F&CA as I travel to the Olympic Peninsula
where the only carriers are Verizon and AT&T.

    Thanks, SM
