A while back, I stumbled across Phone Scoop. I thought it was a good
site worth reading the latest info on phones, hearing what employees of
Sprint and retailers knew about upcoming phones and reading about that
may exist in my phone. Occasionally I would chime in if I thought I
could be of some help, but if I didn't have anything new to add I just
read the posting and moved on.
Over time Phone Scoops alt.cellular.sprintpcs news group has slowly
become saturated with users complaining about other users. This isn't
an attack on any one user, this is a question being asked to this
newsgroup.
"Is it possible to get back to where we were, when this used to be a
site worth visiting?"
I only say this because as I came to look at the site tonight the only
thing that stood out to me was complaining.
Thanks for reading this hopefully things will turn around.

Well just break down and apologize to Justin then.

You'd get back there much faster if you would answer the questions or
apologize. The same goes for Veldaplunk.

Doug,
it's not just a phonescoop problem, it's a usenet problem. Phone
scoop's alt.cellular.sprintpcs is just a ported version of the usenet
newsgroup by the same name. You'll note that sprintusers.com has the
exact same thing.
I'm posting on the NNTP side of things.
Short of getting a moderated newsgroup for Sprint PCS discussion, the
only really way to deal with the problem is to make heavy use of a
killfile. Unfortunately, this means not using phonescoop.com to read
this newsgroup. You'll need access to a usenet server (check with your
ISP, they might have one) and an NNTP newsreader (Outlook Express,
Netscape and Mozilla work just fine for this). Once the filters are set
up though, the posts from the offenders bickering at each other
magically disappear.
Of course there's a downside to this. For one, I'm sure the trolls
involved (all three of them... or 10 and rising if you count all of the
multiple identities of those same 3 people) will bash me for this post,
and I won't have the joy of being able to see or respond to it (but then
frankly, I don't care as I have nothing to prove to these idiots). But
the other downside is that they're turning away new people who would
probably like to participate, and see no point because of all the
off-topic noise. And that's a really a shame.

Make sure you opnly see the positive lies.
SprintPCS is improving.

Or cut down on the nitpicking and baseless accusations. I promise you that
will go much further towards eliminating your problem than any kill file.
Posting with courtesy and understanding would have gone a long way towards
preventing *all* of the rembling and trolling I've done. In fact, I
wouldn't even be here now if that had been the case. But, alas, there's a
clique of 50 year-olds here that have to nitpick and point out all that is
wrong with every poster, yet they're not considered trolls. Then, when
they're called on their accusations, they pretend that you're the troll and
plonk you, run to other forums and start trouble, etc. (i.e. Rob and Tom).

No bashing. Just the really honest truth. If you think it's bashing fine.
When someone comes here and posts, try not to be such jerks and perhaps they
won't morph into trolls. It will cut the trolling WAY down. You guys are
also being idiots and turning away people by being jerks. It works both
ways.

a.k.a. trolling
The act of posting a message in a newsgroup that is obviously
exaggerating something on a particular topic, hoping to trick a newbie

I left the forum until Rob made a trolling comment. Before that, I had
dropped the subject twice. Learn to pay attention. This is what happens
when you jump into the middle of a conversation without the full facts. You
look dumb.

You mean like this post from Rob, a week after I was gone:
"Since, apparently, I was his mission in life, and I refused to let him
goad me any longer, he left in a huff.
I'm just guessing, though."
Or the posts in the ATTWS forum from Rob, 30 minutes after he said he was
ignoring me?
Or the interruption of a legitimate conversation I was having *in another
forum* by Tom V to call me a troll?

Chris, I believe you've made your point. I don't believe it's
necessary to repeat this same reply, as all it does is lower yourself
