Re: does Sprint PCS support SMS; if not can I get it SMS via email
Use this "SMS Sender" tool through your mobile browser.

Preaching to the choir, my friend. This has long been a point where I have=
=20
huge disagreement with "the way things are done." Shortmail was and is a=
=20
fundamental misunderstanding of text messaging and what customers want. I=
=20
think it's got a couple of "neat" features to it, but that doesn't make up =
for=20
the vast disconnect between what customers wanted of text messaging, and wh=
at=20
Shortmail (doesn't) provide.

Why? It's just another online function, just like Shortmail. Please don't=
=20
misunderstand that. I'm not saying it's bad, or broken, or anything like t=
hat. =20
The whole point is that we at SPCS are about to implement a messaging syste=
m=20
that will work without having to go online to do it.
One of our phones, already released, the Nokia 3588i, has no browser, so th=
at=20
online function is no workaround for it.
So, while there's nothing wrong with your sender utility, it's not what peo=
ple=20
are seeking in this thread.

You shouldn't even need a firmware upgrade, most phone naively support SMS.
All they need to do is enable the menu and put in a SMSC number. I'm not
sure how limited the PSTs are in the store, I'm sure they are dumbed down
for the so called "techs" in the back.

Re: does Sprint PCS support SMS; if not can I get it SMS via email
Well, I do know the menu is there but disabled in the Sanyo 4900, Samsung
N400, and every Kyocera I've played with. I have access to more advanced
software than the stores PST station. Hopefully, getting it should be as
simple as getting a software upgrade. Sprint tends to packages changes into
a software "update" even though it's just setting changes.
