Are there any phones that work with Sprint PCS that have an IRDA port?
My PDAs wouldn't work with a USB cable. I'd want this for both beaming
numbers and using the phone as a modem.
Thanks,

I know for certain that the I330 doesn't support the IR port being used tha=

way, as a modem. And that leaves me 99% certain none of the others do, eit=

I'm not even sure you can beam the phonebook(if that's what you mean by=20
"numbers"}.

Re: IRDA phones?
To give a fuller answer :
The Samsung I330 can both synchronize and transfer programs and data using its
IR port, as can any Palm phone. A commercial program, named "BeamPro" allows
file/program transfer en masse rather than one by one between Palm devices.
Data and file transfer would require the computer to have an IR port, like
Macintosh laptops have had, and requires Palm Hotsync software installation on
a target PC or Mac.
It doesnt work like a modem or use modem protocols.
On some PCs, USB Palm synchronization doesnt like being used through USB hubs,
but will work when connected directly to the PC.
There is another commercial program called "PalmPrint" that will allow printing
from many Palm applications to any printer with an IR port
(like a LaserJet 2200).

Uhh... he wants to use the IrDA phone to deliver data to his PDA. Having
him buy a PDAphone (no matter how nice it is) is redundant, because, as you
can see from the words " My PDAs" he already has PDAs and rpbably does not
wish to get another.
Now, beaming data from an i330 to another PDA? No problem, unless it's
PocketPC 2000 or WinCE before that. However, what the PDA would do with the
data once it got it depends on _which_ PDA he has and which software he
has.
Bottom line is, no Sprint phone supports IrDA-linked external data service.
If you want that, it's time to consider GSM/GPRS (ugh).

I can use the ir port on my Treo 300 as a modem for my Ipaq 3600 and for
laptop. I believe the program I used for this was WirelessModem. It worked
great, but it was easier to use a USB cable and PdaNet.

Thank you, Roger. I stand corrected. Neat to know.
