I have been getting an incredible flood of spam text messages -- over 100
per day. I have had the wireless web turned off and have "zeroed out" the IP
address of the phone (Sanyo SCP 6200). Customer service is not very
knowledgable. I have repeatedly requested that all text messaging of any
kind be disabled, but to no avail.
Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, how to accomplish?
Thanks in advance!

About all you can do is change your phone number.

For now, that might be the *only* way. We've got a service alert open that=
=20
message blocking, among other functions, is unreliable (if available at all=
)=20
for 2G/Wireless Web customers while the messaging system is getting worked =
for=20
the upcoming SMS. Currently, this is expected to last into November.

I doubt that would help- at least not for long. Most of the Sprint SMS
text spamming seems to be simple numerical spamming. i.e. Spam every
known area code and Sprint exchange at "messaging.sprintpcs.com", which
is the Sprint SMS email domain.

There's got to be something more to it. I've had SPCS since March of 2002,=
and=20
never had one single commercial text message. Somehow, some way, the spamm=
er=20
in question has been told this is a valid number, from the looks of things.

You're giving Spammers way too much credit. They certainly don't care
if an email address is valid or not. The bounces are going to bogus
addresses anyhow. All I'm saying is don't expect changing your phone
number to make a difference. It might, but what a huge hassle if it
doesn't.
If you personally haven't gotten any of these, then consider yourself
lucky to be on one of the few area codes and exchanges they don't have.
Enjoy it while it lasts. ;(
In short- Sprint has got to offer working SMS message blocking. I don't
use them- I don't want them.

On that you'll get no disagreement from me whatsoever. As a Vision tech, I=
=20
don't even have the ability to investigate whether you're getting messages,=
=20
much less have any direct ability to stop them for you.
The ability *is* there. It's just that, for some reason, the ability to de=

with these kinds of issues has been moved out of the hands of those who fac=

the customer.
