SprintPCS customer service tends to have a "The Customer is always wrong"
attitude, so you may only be convincing yourself. Watch them just try to sell
you a new phone like they did with Justin.

As I mentioned before, my phone would go into Analog Roaming when I
was in a data center; so I set it to Sprint Only so conserve the
battery. Since then I never got the message again.

But THIS TIME...WITH it set for Sprint Only (I checked it), it STILL
went to Digital and Anaog Roaming.

Yes, I find it hard to believe also!

If that happened, while in SPCS service only, then it sounds like there is
something wrong with the firmware loaded up on the phone. When you took your
phones into the SPCS to get tested, who did the test, and how long did it
take to get those phones tested?

A sad testemonial to the abysmal quality of Sprint customer service when one of
its leading apologists doesn't trust Store techs who tested 2 phones.

I was there about an hour. But since both of my different model phones
are experiencing this, and three different models that neighboors have,
its hard to see it as not network related.

Its happening with my Sanyo 4900, my Sanyo 6400, a Sanyo 8xxx camera
    phone, Samsung N400 and A620 (?).

Sorry, I meant a Sanyo 6000 - its jumping in and out of digial and
analog roaming. And just tried my old Motorola Star Tac, I placed it
in automatic network mode and its jumping between Digital Roam and
    Analog Roam.

Phil...that comment really wasn't called for. You lost track of the
    problem issue.

This is not like a typical problem CS would encounter. Have you ever
seen any posts like this before? Its not that Bob doesn't trust the
techs, he's trying to narrow the scope of the issue as it befuddles him
    also.

Bill, I'll post an update in a minute with what I've found out with
    other phones.

You are too generous in apologizing for poor training,

Ah, well in automatic mode, you are telling your phone to search SPCS and
all the other providers in the PRL. With all the different phone models I've
had with SPCS, there were 3 settings under roaming. Sprint PCS only,
Automatic & Analog. Under SPCS, the phone should only be searching for a
SPCS signal. Under Automatic, SPCS and all other providers in the PRL for
your area, and then analog, for just 800 analog wireless providers.

Where was it ever said the continued problem of those phones was caused by
    poor training. except by you?

Leading apologist? ROTFLOL ... Now when have I been apologizing Phillipe?
Oh, and when are you going to explain why you've needed to create 20 or so
different IDs in the Usenet newsgroup?

Thanks for everyone's input. The problem appears to have
been cleard. But that's a moot point as I'm switching to
Cingular in three months as my new position is in a small
town of 5,000 people on the top of a hilly ridge and Sprint
is dead on the far side of the town.

Cingular is my only other option as AT&T, Verizon and Voicestream
don't have a point of presence (no local numbers) where my second
    phone is.
