| | Guest | I like my new 4400 but I am appalled at the battery life, I guess due
to the backlight and color screen. Is it possible to cut battery
usage by not using wallpaper?
Also, in looking for an extended battery, it seems most do not work
with the desktop charger. Does anyone know a good place to get a high
quality extended battery that will work with the charger?

Bat life on my 4400 is pretty good i.e. all day with 10 or 15 calls
averaging around 3 min ea. can stretch to two days if I'm not talking much.
If you are in an analog area or a very weak signal area any phone will drain
bat. much faster. Turning down brightness on your screen could make some
difference, but I'm not sure how much. I have heard of some 4400's sticking
in analog so you might see what kind of signal you have as that seems to be
my worst battery drain. What version software do you have?

| | Guest | The OEM extended battery (installed on the phone) works fine in the OEM
supplied desk charger.

The battery that comes installed on 4400s by default is not the
extended one.

I bought a new LG extended battery through ebay a few days ago; works
fine in the desktop charger. In fact it charged more quickly than the
regular battery did. The standby time is _much_ better. They're not
hard to find on ebay, and you can almost always get them for less than
Verizon charges for the ordinary battery. Of course they're also a
bit larger and heavier than the regular battery. Just something to
keep in mind. Needless to say, follow the usual ebay caveats before
buying anything... | | | |

This was an LG battery? What's the model number?
I bought an LG ABTL (1500 mAh). The battery that came with the phone
is an ABTM (950 mAh). The desktop charger that came with my phone is
model DC-B4W. It handles both batteries equally well.
Speaking of the 4400 (which I've only had for a couple of weeks) and
battery life, I have what might be a silly question. If I'm on the
phone when the travel charger is connected, does that suck power from
the battery at all? I'm assuming not but I can't find a definitive
answer. | | | |
