#1 | | Guest | If I sign up for a Verizon play at, say 250 Anytime minutes, during a
one-year contract, can I change plans during that contract? For
example, if I want to switch to a 500 Anytime minutes plan.

#2 | | Guest | You can change price plans anytime you want, but if you accept a new
promotion you will have to extend your contract. So if you are 6 months
into a contract 6 months will be added on to your contract. So if you are
worried about that make sure and ask if it will extend your contract. If it
is the same promotion your contract should not be extended so make sure that
it doesn't happen as they probably will try and do it.

Do you have the option not to accept any promotions on a plan change? Last
time I asked, I was told that you could change, but it was often impossible
to change without resetting you contract because promotions had changed and
they wouldn't allow a plan change without the current promotions. True?

You should have that options, yes. But you have to be very clear when you
speak to customer service. Most people do not use the promotion deals
anyway, most keep to anytime minutes.

I have never tried to sign on to a plan without taking the promo so I don't
know if that's true or not. What *is* an issue is that you can only upgrade
to an existing plan. So if you had, say, a regional plan from two years ago
and now want to add more minutes to that without extending your contract you
can't, even if you *are* willing to forgo promotions. This is because the
regional plans no longer exist so you can't "upgrade" them. If you want
more minutes (in this case), you'd have to get them from an existing,
current AC plan which is in effect changing your plan so the contract is
extended. Since the contract is extended anyway, might as well take the
promo minutes. I hope I'm not making your question more complicated than
you intended!

Really? I make heavy use of my promo minutes and would have a hard time
justifying the need for a cell phone without them! I didn't realize I was
in the minority.

You are making it more complicated and, I believe you are wrong
in your statement below.

My understanding:
You can switch to any currently offered plan at any time *without* extending
your contract. If you take any promos as part of the switch you *will*
extend
your contract. simple huh?

Huh, I did not realize this. I was under the (mistaken) impression that you
could only change price points within a plan (say going from 1000 to 700
minutes on AC) and did not realize that you could change to an entirely
different plan. But you're right; it's right in the "Worry Free Guaranty"
that you can change to any qualifying plan. Good deal!

Every time I've even spoken to CS about my account it's been 'upgraded (read
extended) without my knowledge or consent.

I've spoken to Verizon's CS several times and have never been upgraded
or extended.

If that is true you need to get them to provide you with the evidence of
your consent (i.e. consent recording, signature or electronic consent via a
webpage) or immediately roll back the plan to what it was prior to the
alledged plan change consent.

True but it is a *continuing* problem and I'm getting tired of the battle.
I should note the account has been flagged (what ever that means if
anything) but seem to do no good.
