Lots of us do. I've had mine since before I had a cell phone, and continue
to carry it, even though I just got a new phone that can do text messaging.
Why? Massively larger coverage area, for example. I have full 2-way
coverage from SkyTel pretty much everywhere, including my house, which
is pretty much a No Man's Land wrt cell coverage. If I'm needed
urgently for something job-related and I can't be reached via cell phone
because of lack of coverage or a dead battery, I can still be reached
via pager. And if I go somewhere that doesn't have 2-way coverage,
then I almost always can at least receive messages.
I've seen a number of people say that they carry more than one cell
phone because of eg. coverage issues. For me, at least, carrying a pager
that's worked flawlessly for the last 4-5 years and costs way less than
a second cell phone that would cost more to buy and carry with a lesser
coverage area is a no-brainer.
