v60s battery issues.

Anyone else seeing extremly short battery life with their v60s?

I have done the full charge (more than 24hrs of charging) 3 times now
since I recived the phone last week, and let it go dead each time
between charges..still I get only about 12 hours of standby time! (no
calls made or recieved) This is terrible. I thought I might have a bad
battery so I took out my 270c's larger battery (which gives me several
days of standby with it) and put it in the v60s. I charged it
overnight, like I usually do with the 270c, and I currently have had
it in standby for just over 5 hours, and it's dropped to 2 bars
allready. What gives with this phone and sucking juice from the
battery? I put the slim v60c battery in my 270c and it's at 6 hours
now, and still 3 bars.
I don't think its the battery, I think its the dang v60s.

I also had a couple issues with the phone, Like it turning it self
off, and then not coming back on untill I open it up and re-seat the
battery. Also, I was at work with it (where I always have a signal
with my 270c) and I was getting no signal at all. I shut it off ,
turned it back on, then noticed I was in analog mode and it stayed
that way for several minutes, then it went to digital. Might of been a
network problem I suppose, I've just never had my 270c do that.
I've also had a few people tell me that I was breaking up, when
talking to them from my home. Again, I've never had that problem with
my other phone.

I have another week to return the v60s and really would like to keep
it, but the battery issue is a deal breaker for me. Anyone else seeing
this also?
Rick

Perhaps you're not getting a good digital signal and the phone is
going to analog mode -- which could explain both the battery drain and
poorer quality sound problems. This might be caused by a digital
network problem.

Or you may have a bad phone. If you have any doubt about that, don't
let your return period expire before you swap out the phone.

Re: v60s battery issues.

How about the battery is much too small for the phone. The V60P has no
reserve and its' battery is 900Mah...

Well, it certainly is a small battery, but that same battery has been
in my 270c motorola phone for 10 hours now, on standby, and still
shows 3 bars of battery strength. That battery was dead after 12
hours of standby in the v60s.

Re: v60s battery issues.

A couple possibilities.

1) A bad phone
2) Your phone was not programmed correctly and is switching to analog more
often than it should. This is a common problem with Motorola phones if not
manually programmed by VZW. The SSID for VZW should not be listed under the
analog option in programming. For some reason by default the VZW SSID is
listed under both digital and analog. When this is the case the phone
switches to analog often if in somewhat weak signal areas. Call customer
care and ask them to walk you through manual programming or take it to your
store and ask them to check the manual programming to insure you do not have
an entry in the analog portion. yes, it will still switch to analog if need
be as determined by your PRL.

I have my V60s since yesterday. I charged it last night for the first time.
The phone has been on all day (since (9AM) and I've probably talked about 1
hour thusfar (mostly using the speakerphone) and I still have 2 bars left.

Let us know how this works out for you....

BTW, The 700maH battery should be fine in most situations but if you use the
speakerphone constantly you migh want to invest in a spare or the 900maH
extra capacity battery.

What do you enter for the AMPS ID? Zero (you cannot delete it completely --
I just tried...)?

Re: v60s battery issues.

How do you get into the manual programing? I'll check mine and report back
to you.
