US Coverage

There have been a lot of questions regarding which cities have good
coverage...Which cities have the worst coverage.

Except for small, isolated towns-- expecially in mountain areas-- coverage
is pretty good.

Like everything it all varies. You can't give an absolute about
anywhere.

Re: US Coverage

Having just switched from T-Mobil, so far I thing the coverage is much
better. I'm anxious to use it on a Florida trip in another month or so.

You'll probably be using someone else's system in FL. Those licenses
are hard to acquire. VZW has a few channels on 1900 Mhz in many
places. Make sure you carry a tri-mode phone.

Wow. I'm replying to this if only because I wanted to see the line
"Make sure you carry a tri-mode phone" again from Bagphone Larry!

Larry, I enjoy your analog posts, but seriously, do you use an analog
phone exclusively, ot is it just a back up to a a digital phone

I have an analog on one line also, but really, 95% of the time I'm
better served with a cdma on both verizon and sprint---battery life,
smaller phone size, instant messages, the vision connection, and the
instaneous connection speeds with digital---

All AMPS, all the time. My V60i has been in the drawer since a month
after I bought it. AMPS just works better because of simple
physics....more power, bigger antenna, more range. WABC doesn't run
50KW because they like to watch the ConEd meter spin faster.

Digital is ok. If it had either a REASONABLY POWERED transmitter or
the companies, all of them, had more shared tower resources so you
were never more than 2 miles from a PRL-enabled site, it would be
fine. But, it's not. Trying to get 200 milliwatts to give reliable
communications to any receiver 8-10 miles away is suicide. It's
crazy. It's also a lie. It has nothing to do with modulation
schemes, digital politics/bull**** or ad campaigns. It's simply the
physics of radio propagation....

I only care that I have impeccable phone service. It keeps my
business IN business, and has since they turned off my IMTS "Carphone"
and its blisteringly powerful transmitter, many years ago.

One of the cooks, a nice young man who makes my breakfast most
mornings, had a death in his family way up near NYC, this morning. I
loaned him a Motorola "Classic" handheld AMPS phone with the car cord
power supply, instead of the dead battery, I paid 99 cents for in a
thrift shop. He's taking it on his funeral trip tonight so he has 911
service from Charleston SC to Newburgh, NY. I just hope he doesn't
fall asleep at the wheel and hope he follows my advise to get 4 hours
sleep before he leaves. His family only needs one funeral at a time,
thank you.

He'll have impeccable AMPS service, even though the phone is only a
600 mw walkie with a 3db antenna on top. It's set to STD A/B so will
work with any system it finds.....not the ones programmed into a
digital PRL.

Ol' Pud, who runs a great company layoff website at
www.****edcompany.com and www.luckedcompany.com and
www.internalmemos.com (a look at confidential corporate memos trashing
millions of employees) runs a NEW website for cellphone pornographers!
I just found it from a pointer on his FC website, tonight.

www.mobog.com

Can a 14-year-old be jailed for taking dirty pictures of her
brother?....(c; Go see what the kiddies are snapping on their
cellphone cameras. The email address to send pix direct from the
phones, uncensored if Pud has anything to do with it, is on the
website. The comments from the other 12-year-olds will make the
socialist bureaucrats at the Dept of Socialist Services in any state
just cringe!....
