When I use the QNC network it is set up to log into the network using
QNC/QNC. When I used it I had the Authentication in the mail client
checked. Exactly what username and password it uses I couldn't tell you. I
was told that airbridge does not require auth.

In any event I haven't been able to get airbridge to work with or with out
    auth on the EN network.

No, authentication is not required with the airbridge SMTP server. I use
Agent as my mail and newsgroup client, and I tell it that "no login is
required" for the airbridge server. You must be connecting to the
Internet using Verizon in order to use that server, of course.

I believe you said earlier that you were able to RECEIVE mail on the
Express Network, so that means that your system is using the correct
    user ID and password.

I found references to the error message you are getting in discussions
or Pocket PC devices. See, for example,
    http://www.tek-tips.com/gviewthread....917/qid/638028

It does in fact appear to be an SMTP server issue. Perhaps the following
thread is actually you asking the question elsewhere, but for what it's
    worth:
    http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread/t-13035.html

Good luck. If you resolve it, please post your solution.

No, not directly on the phone. I was thinking Outlook/Outlook Express.

I use an SSH tunnel to encrypt all of my traffic anyway... works like
a charm, my mail is secure, faster (compressed), and gets past every
    smtp block!
