Special Numbers for Verizon Phones

I'd like to add to the list of "special numbers" (I don't know what
else to call them) that I can use with my Verizon cell phone. Here
are the special numbers that work for me in the NY/NJ area (may not
work in other markets):

- prefixing *82 to a dialed number reveals my caller ID information
on a call-by-call basis if it is normally blocked.

- prefixing *67 to a dialed number blocks my caller ID information on
a call-by-call basis if it is normally not blocked.

- *78 turns on the "Follow Me Roaming" feature, essentially
reregistering my phone with a cell tower.

- *72 prefixed to a number turns on call forwarding to that number
and call forwarding continues in effect until turned off with *73.

- *73 turns off call forwarding.

- *84 connects to Voice Gear voice activated dialing service (if you
subscribe to that paid option)

- *86 connects to Voice Mail (but costs Anytime minutes)

- *288 allows me to program my phone (option 1) or to update my
Preferred Roaming List (PRL).

- *611 connects me to VZW customer service.

- #646 allows me to request that my minutes usage be sent to my
handset via a text message or to hear the minutes used.

- 411 connects me to directory and other information (restraunts,
movies, weather, etc.) for $1.25 per call.

Are there any other special numbers that anyone can tell us about? Do
the numbers I listed above work for you? If not, which ones do not
work for you and where is your market?

I have looked all over the Verizonwireless site and cannot find a list
of these numbers compiled there or anywhere else on the Internet.

Thanks for any additions or corrections to my list.

George

I thought that was *18 and you normally shouldn't have to use it...

Don't think this is right; is *720 in every VZW market I've traveled to.

*228.

#BAL (#225) gets you your balance.

Actually, that's the company line, but I believe they both give you your
balance *and* minute usage.

If you MUST top post, could you at least put a blank line after it so it
stands out from the quoted text?

BTW, my bill came yesterday and had an insert saying there's also #PMT
(768) to make a payment. I've never seen that one before.

(Now I have to call CS and get the TOTALLY EFFING USELESS bill detail taken
off my account, including dropping the charge for the current month. (I
used to get it free, but even i it weren't TOTALLY EFFING USELESS it
wouldn't be worth five bucks a month.))

I may have been posting improperly also, could you suggest the most
recommended posting method, as I see many variations, and am not sure
what is the most commonly suggested.

Also, probably already aware but the verizonwirelss web page has a
great account usage analysis, which can be printed, or searched as
needed.

Common accepted practice is (and always has been) that your comments
immediately follow what you're commenting on, and that anything has no
bearing on what you're commenting on be snipped.
