About three weeks ago, I posted asking for advice about joining up with
Verizon, and about amps/
cdma phones available. The responses I received
here were excellent. (Thanks again, all -- Traveling Man, Andrew White,
David S, RBH Martin, Al Klein, Scott Nelson).
I ported from ATTWS, going through the VZW website -- in large measure to
get the Motorola V60s (I am in NYC, and it was suggested that I might try
VZW company stores for the V60s. I stopped in the company store located in
their NYC HQ - and they told me it was only available on the web -- so
that's where I went). The port went smoothly.
The V60s has, so far, been a real plus (all NYC usage at this point). With
the exception of battery life, I am pleased with everything about the phone
(lot's of learning yet to do, of course). The speaker phone feature is a
pleasure.
Now, about battery life. A few questions. I realize that it may improve a
bit -- I am now into the third discharge/recharge cycle -- but, if it
continues to be a relatively short life time I think I will probably buy a
larger capacity battery. (So far, based on the first two cycles --
performance averages, per cycle, to approx 35 - 40 hours of on-time, about
50 minutes of talk time with some of it on speaker phone).
Here's what I am looking at right now........
They've got a higher capacity Moto battery...

And this firm has several batteries, not Motos, but I'd imagine these should
do the job, too. They have one that appears to be huge in capacity (and in
size), but looks very appealing for its staying power.
http://www.factorydirectcellular.com...torola/v60.htm ( does anyone
here have experience with this firm and its products? ).
Any advice about the above will be appreciated. Anyone have the "official"
high capacity Motorola battery -- how does it perform in terms of life? And
the batteries from "Factory Direct Celllular" -- if you have one of them,
how does it behave for you?
One more question -- if and when I get a bigger capacity battery, how do I
best preserve the original? I see that Motorola suggests, in the manual,
that it be stored in the refrigerator. Is that the best idea? Or would it
be best to continue to use it -- rotating the two (original and aftermarket)
batteries. (I had an Ericsson NiMH battery in reserve for my earlier
Ericsson R289LX ATTWS phone. It was in excellent shape when I bought it as
a reserve, and I let it sit unused in my reserve phone for months -- but
not refrigerated -- when I went to use it, it was toast, and would not take
a charge no matter what I tried).
TIA
