#1 | | Guest | I just purchased a V60s and would like to ask this group a couple of
questions.
1) When my phone is open, the outside lid displays Verizon Wireless. Is this
a PRC indicator (verizon, extended, roam) or just to let me know who my
provider is? If it is a PRL indicator, how can I get it to display when the
lid is closed (instead of the date & time) or on the main screen like the LG
4400 or LG4500 phones do. As i haven't roamed yet in the Philly area, the
only way I can tell if I'm in my preferred network is by the 1X and Digital
indicators on my main display screen.
also...
2) My phone doesn't support GetItNow, so how can I get a ring tone to the
phone from a website or other service? What types of ringtones does the V60
support (mono, poly, midi, mp3)? I typed one in the hard way using "My
tones", but that is a pain and I'd rather just pay a few bucks for a one
time selection of my customized ringer tone.
Thanks for your responses in advance,
Todd B

#2 | | Guest | I just ran a *228 to update my PRL (for the second time since I got the V60s
a week ago), and now the main screen does have the Verizon Wireless banner.
I assume this is now the PRL indicator with the digital indicator just to
the left of the VW banner (the small D at the top of the screen is now
gone). How frequently do they update the over the air programming for each
phone? I thought I only selected updating the PRL, not doing a SW version
update.
SW version 8610_02.0F.02
PRL version 50152
ERI Version 50019 (whatever this is)
I would still like to get it on my outside banner rather than the date &
time. I already have a watch.

There aren't any phones that update software (firmware) over the air,
they only update the PRL. The first option on *228 programs your phone
(mobile phone number, home system, etc.) but doesn't touch the firmware.
Do you remember what your PRL version was before you called *228? You
probably had a non-ERI PRL before, and when you called *228 they gave
you a PRL with ERI. ERI is the Extended Roaming Indicator that tells you
the name of the network you're on.

There is a banner setting under Settings/Personalize, but I'm not sure
if it's externel or internal; haven't tried it. | | | |

FYI:
I have the samme software and eri versions,
but my PRL is 42034, which is what the phone came with.
I haven't updated since activation, and the phone is about
a week old. | | | |

The v60s supports EMS messaging for ringtones (polyphonic MIDIs.) You
can buy ringtones from VZW via www.vtext.com -- I don't know if you
can get tones as text messages from elsewhere as I've never tried.

polyphonic MIDI ringtones for my V60s?
Am I missing something?

#11 | | Guest | Ok, I finally got it after setting up an account and confirming that the
V60s phone will receive ringtones via the V60p approved phone selection.
The V60s isn't listed as a "supported phone" on the main phone selection
page, so when I reviewed the other supported phones hyperlink & called the
support number, I was able to receive my authentication code on my phone
after selecting my phone as a V60p model instead of a V60s, and was able to
download the ringtone.
Its a little different for those who don't have Get It Now supported phones.
Thanks TGW for steering me in the right direction numerous times with this
phone! You have been a big help.
