Free WAP using LG4400B

I had free WAP working not long ago following instructions on Roger
Binns' FAQ http://www.rogerbinns.com/vx4400/vx4400faq.html

But somehow my homepage has reverted back to the default openwave and
I'm always greeted with "Security is not enabled. Enabling security
will take several minutes. Proceed?" It seems I have no option but to
proceed and it always fails. After that my only option is to retry or
quit.

I've tried changing the homepage but it always gets reset back to
openwave and the cycle repeats itself. I would like to try different
WAP gateways (perhaps even my own) but as long as openwave is my home
page I can't get anywhere.

Any suggestion?

A related question: assuming I get this problem solved, will WAP work
while roaming on extended network?
