New Every Two & 15-Day Return Policy Question...


If you use your "new every 2" $100 rebate to replace your old phone,
and then within 15 days decide that you want to return the new phone
and go back to your old phone, will you remain eligible for the $100
rebate in the months to come? Or, would switching back to your old
phone (rather than switching to another new phone) basically wipe your
"new every 2" $100 rebate? TIA

That's a good question, why don't you ask VZW customer service and then post
their reply here?

In answer to your question sometimes dates may not always change
correctly in the system. As long as you explain to them it shouldn't be
a problem. I bought and returned a phone back in 9/03. I think once
that date has appeared in a call as an NE2. As long as you explain to
them and then they read the details on the screen you should be ok for
the NE2 on the original DOB for the original phone.
It sounds more complicated then it really is.

i've done this back in jul/aug, and while i haven't checked with VZW CS, i
did notice that on the website, the NE2 pricing was gone everytime i click
on "upgrade phone".

Not only that, suppose you are NE2 eligible at the moment but purchase a
brand new VZW phone that is not currently offered or was withdrawn from your
area (I'm speaking indirectly here of the Audiovox CDM9900). VZW tells me
that NE2 only applies to phones bought new IN THE STORE. How's them apples?

I used my NE2 to order my phone through the website and also did not have to
mail in the $70 rebate. The $70 rebate as well as the $100 NE2 was taken off
of my total and I was only charged the difference to have the phone shipped
to me (shipping was free as well).

The stories I get from VZW Customer Service is the CDM-9900 is all gone ...
no more... sorry we can't fulfill your order. Yet, the phone is still shown
on some VZW websites, depending on zip code. They can't ship what they
don't have.

Uhhh, just how do you plan to purchase this phone? They don't
allow you to go out and buy your own phone and then cut you
a $100 check. The $100 is applied towards a new phone purchased
from them. You go to a store, do it online, or do it over the phone
with CS. I think all the above are considered "IN THE STORE".
Ebay doesn't qualify.

1st reply: An alternate method is through an online source who still has
some 9900's in stock, and open up an entirely new Verizon plan when my
current plan expires (soon). There is an internal agreement that the online
source must not write plans for -existing- VZW customers ... I've learned.
Another way to get the 9900 (known as the Toshiba 4050 by Sprint) is to not
renew my current VZW plan, rather replace it with a new Sprint plan. Sprint
is sketchy on stock of this phone right now too but has not announced
discontinuance.

2nd reply: You correctly read my post ... that the NE2 only applies when
the upgrade phone is bought through a Verizon store.

An interesting thing I did not know about Sprint is that they still support
analog communications but like Verizon, not all of their phones are
Tri-mode. There is a 30 day, no questions asked cancellation policy for new
plans.

Sorry. I thought your post was about limitations of the NE2 and not
solely on how to get a 9900.

Yes, and I believe that "through a VZW store" includes the online
web page and customer service over the phone as well.

Have you looked at their "off network roaming - analog" map?
You're in good shape if you live in Toledo, Dallas, New York
City, or Florida...

GREAT news! I was fishing around on PhoneScoop trying to decide on another
phone because finding an Audiovox CDM9900 is like chasing a vapor trail. I
narrowed my alternative down to the Samsung A650. After making the
comparisons, I clicked on Find a Store which lead me to a list of Verizon
dealers in my immediate area. I had no idea some of them existed. I called
one store (not a dedicated Verizon store) and ... they had TWO 9900's in
stock yet. Hallelujah. I bagged one! Merry Christmas. Got a good price,
got the NE2 allowance, got the $50 rebate ... leaving only a few bucks
balance. Also paid the $10 charge to have all the address book entries
transferred from my old 9155 phone to the 9900. Small deficiency however.
The machine transferred all the phone numbers but none of the SMS or web
email addresses. Oh well, that bit of drudgery took only 10-15 minutes at
home. Me happy now. :-)

Don't have to worry about any of that now. LOL With the new 9900 I got, I
also decided to retain my old plan (Single Rate Western) which I've been
able to stay within for the past 2 yrs (300 peak, 3200 night/wknd, 250
mobile2mobile). I could have gone with the Local Digital Plan (promotional
version) but then I'd be getting nicked with occasional long distance
charges within CA/NV.

Did everything online. Did the phonebook myself. Bought a cable and used
drivers/software I d/l. Went pretty much without a hitch....
