Picture Messaging ...

I've got a CDM 9900 phone. I noodled out the picture taking process, Photo
Gallery management, Sending a taken photo with text message, and having it
received at my email account on Earthlink. Oy, what a drill. I lost count
of the keystrokes necessary to do all this 'stuff.'

Question now: Can we Verizonites send our Picture Messages to an AT&T
customer's phone? Seems my picture gets stripped off the message when
received by AT&T ... same happens from AT&T customer sending to me.

Re: Picture Messaging ...

The only carriers that have developed MMS interoperability are Cingular AT&T
and T-Mobile.

That's because all three of them use GSM and GPRS, Verizon uses i95 and 1X

Re: Picture Messaging ...

Julie: THANK YOU. At $0.25 per attempt, I was not going to attempt more
than two picture messages when the first two failed.

Good question. So I called 611.

I conveyed the thought clearly to the CS person that when I sent Pictures
Messages to an AT&T customer that the text messages arrived but the pictures
would be stripped off the messages. Same thing happens from the AT&T
customer to me. The gal says this is true and is mentioned in the
literature. (Oh? Guess I should do some reading.)

Next question: "For my attempt, am I still charged $0.25 cents for..."

"Sir, the message did not go through so you are not charged."

"Please ma'am, don't try to finish my sentence. Only I know where my
thoughts are going."

"Now, am I to understand that I will be charged for the text message that
did go through ($0.10) but not the attached picture which would make the
total transmission $0.25? (actually, I have a bulk 200 message package)

Pregnant pause. "That is correct, sir"

(obligatory but uncharacteristically snippy salutation from CS person).
