The CSR's apparently have a "news or bulletins" type system. When I called
about the deal, the person I got was not aware of its existence, but
searched
that system for new announcements in the past couple days (as this is a new
offer). Anyway, he found the offer and feature code that needs to be added
to the account.
One more concern for you. In my case, I had a relatively recent america's
choice plan, and I did not switch plans. They added a bonus feature.
There's no downside. I get like 59 minutes this month due to pro-ration
of the 100 bonus minutes in the middle of my billing cycle. Next month
I'll get the whole 100.
In your case, you switched plans. The sucky part of switching plans under
the "new" billing system we've had here out west for the past year or two is
that both
portions of your billing cycle are pro-rated. So say you switch 5 days
into your billing cycle, but have used more than 16% of your minutes
in the beginning of the month, yet stay within you allocation for the entire
billing cycle. You can, and in my experience be billed overage
for the first pro-rated portion of your current billing cycle.
Not to worry, if this happens, call and have the "overeage" removed.
They did so in my case the last time this happened to me.
I also changed to AC from a single-rate plan when virtually every carrier in
my home state became "friendly roam." In other words, I have basically
zero chance to roam when at home, and little chance when I travel as
things tend to get even more "covered" as one travels east.

PS: Under the old billing system we had out west, the entire bill would
be backdated under the terms of the new plan. Assuming you did
not exceed your allowance for the new plan, there was no problem.
[This also allowed folks an escape hatch-- if they grossly exceeded
their allowance, all they needed to do was accept a higher minute
rate plan for that period, and the backdated billing would save their
butt. Of course, nothing stopped them from going back to a lower
minute plan later-- which I presume is the hole the new billing system
is designed to "fix"]
