HELP MY ANALOG!!

Hey everyone.. OK, this is a weird question. I recently WAS able to get
an Analog Motorola Metor Ultima Pocket phone activated on to my Verizon
account. I can place calls fine, BUT, when someone trys to call me, the
phone doesn't ring, and the calling party hears one long ring, and then
one short before getting kicked to the voicemail. What's weird is that
when im in a call, i can recieve another call through call waiting; its
when the phone isn't in a call, that i cant receive a call... Im
completly stumped, is there anything i can do? Im in the Chicago
market, and im on a Americas Choice 400 plan. Could the plan have
anything to do with it? I've come some close to being able to use
analog again on my verizon, i just cant give it up already...lol.. Any
help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
--Andy

How did you activate it? Online via the VZW website? If so, you'll
have to call customer service and let them know you have a analog
phone on the system and not a digital CDMA one. Then it should work.

Re: HELP MY ANALOG!!

Actually I just called Verizons Customer service, said our old phone
went shot, and I was going to use an older phone i had. When i supplied
them the ESN, it didnt show up on their computers as to what kind of
phone i had. When asked how old it was a said a few years...lol.. So
after that i went ahead and programmed it manually, and got it to work.
Now, when i called texh support and told them my phone wouldnt ring,
she asked what kind of phone was on the account because she couldnt
figure out what kind. I made the mistake of telling her, and she got a
little angry..lol She said that if thats analog only i need to go to a
VZW store NOW and change it, and it should have NEVER been activated.
Quickly I said oh its a tri-mode and hung up... :-P

Now as for my issue with the phone ringing... I GOT IT!!!! :-)
All i had to do was call and have VZW remove the caller id from my
Americas Choice plan, since my AMPS phone doesnt have caller id, when
the network would try to send the caller id info, itd flip and bounce
to voice mail.

Looks like i can now enjoy the power of analog on my Verizon Account.
Good Luck to those who try to get their Analogs activated with Verizon.
I have to say, it's sad, but Analog beats the crap out of verizons
digital in NW Indiana.

also- call cust care and have them remove all of the digital features from your
features list. the only one remaining should be call delivery ( and voice
mail). the other digital features- cdma/txt/iq service/etc will cause probs.

Many analog phones behave exactly this way when the system tries to send
Caller-ID to the phone. Newer analog phones understand Caller-ID (or at
least recognize and ignore the data). But older ones consider it a
protocol error and drop the call. The key is have Caller-ID disabled
(by calling customer service) while using the analog phone.

Re: HELP MY ANALOG!!

How pissed does Verizon get when you always use their analog service?
Since my plan is digital, I imagine it'll look very strang always being
in analog. I also noticed that in one area, where i get servie very
well actually, i can't get a call to go through, the networks always
"busy". Now, i could see it maybe busy during peak times, but at 3am,
that doesnt seem right. Anyone know what might be up?
On a side note, i have a REAL brick phone i kinda wana give Verizon the
ESN to use, think if I try to swap the ESN to my Motorola Classic I
might be pushing my luck?
