#1 | | Guest | II have a very odd problem with my vx6100(one of them). We just bought 2 of
them and this is only a problem with one.
I can setup the voice mail # (menu, 4, 7, 6) to *86TTT123456(123456
represents my password) on one phone and it works any way that I access my
voice mail (command menu, speed dial, ok button).
However, on the second phone I set it up the same way, but it will only send
*86TTT123456 if I go through the speed dial menu. If I use the command menu
or push down on the OK button it will only dial *86. This is very strange.
I have checked every setting on both phones and they are identical including
firmware and everything else I can view.
I have also done a full reset as well as wiping my contacts and any other
data off of the phone
Has anyone else seen this problem?
Thanks,
Doug

Just a thought. Have you checked the versions on both phones? Perhaps one
has different software?

Thanks,

I think you are leaving out a # sign. It should be: *86TT#TT123456. The #
sign lets it know it's you trying to retreive your messages. Hope this
helps.

#5 | | Guest | The LGVX 4400 had this same problem. It was much discussed in several fora.
Some 4400's would only dial *86 when the the OK button was pressed
(regardless of how it was programmed) while some would work properly.
Here's the even weirder part: some that worked properly eventually did not.
That's what happened to us for both a 4400 and a 6000. One week, the
programming simply stopped working and now when the OK button is pressed
only *86 is dialed. We have to enter our password manually.
No one knows why this happens! I thought it was market-related, but your
situation makes me rethink that as you have two phones in one market (I
presume) and one works and the other doesn't. The week that it happened to
us I called customer service to ask what changes were made and they had no
idea what I was talking about. They seemed surprised that the phone could
even be programmed to automatically pause and then give the password when
pressing the OK button in the first place.
Have you tried taking the phones to a VZW store and see what the techs say?

My Wife & I have VX4400 phones ( Same software revision and close in serial
number). I programmed both phones for voicemail the same - mine worked and
hers would not. After a while mine quit working. So I set up a speed dial
on both phones with phone number - two pauses - Password. When we get a
voicemail notification - we answer no - then press the speed dial. This
works here in Kansas. | | | |

That's exactly how we do it in Maine, IMHO. But it still bugs me that the
feature doesn't work as designed. I don't like having to answer no when I
used to just press OK. | | | |

Too bad they don't have an option to not require a password if you are
calling from your cell phone!
Back when this started happening if you dialed your cell number the call
came out of MTM (IN) minutes and *86 came out of Prime minutes or Night &
Weekend in this area. Then they changed *86 to also come out of MTM. Now
all prime time calls from your cell phone to your voicemail are prime
minutes. | | | |

#9 | | Guest | Thanks for all of the responses. I brought the phones back where I bought
them and went to another verizon dealer to get the phones. Even on the new
phones, the feature doesn't always work. It's very strange...
