Gotta get in on this as an RS employee.
We get **** on daily, quite frankly I'm used to it. We get **** on
from people who walk in assuming we don't know jack. While it may go
for a good bunch of them, it's not true for all of us. My store
includes an active ham radio operator and an E.E. major. In fact, an
informed customer is the minority. 10 times out of 10 (yes, I mean
it), the customer is the dumb one and he thinks he is wayyyyy ahead of
the employee in terms of knowledge. We get people coming in who swear
up and down that their cousin three states over has an 8mm to VHS
adapter. We get people who think there is a simple cable conversion
system for line-level to RF. Then they swear up and down at the
associate. Then there are those that swear they bought their
T-mobiles at our store. Not to mention how much misguidance Sprint
and Verizon give them (did you know RS handles insurance claims?
Niether did I, and I work there [read: they don't]).
We get **** on from the micro-mis-management from above. 13 "SOPs"
giving us checklist after checklist on mundane daily tasks taking us
away from our minimum-wage + spiff positions. The fact that we have a
checklist dedicated to doing toilet paper counts is insane.
But simply put, I don't give a damn. Between tuition re-imbursement
and a discount cell plan, it's keeping me busy. If I get a few phones
out the door each week, I got some spending cash.
And on top of all that, I got the forums @
www.radioshacksucks.com to
vent on. SPREAD THE WORD!
