Transferring phonebook to a new phone

Does anyone know? When I transfer a my phonebook to a new phone does
it transfer just the phonebook or does it image everything? Everything
being the phonebook and what ever problems the software may have. So
do I end up with the phonebook and the os from the old phone or just
the phonebook?

Just the phonebook.

That's certainly true of the replacement Nokia 3589i, VZW gave me. Are
there any phones where the settings and/or other data are also
transferrable?

A phone specific software kit and cable provided the ability to
transfer slightly more info than Verizon's bare bones phonebook
transfer. Forget ringers, voicedial and wallpapers, basically
everything but the simplest phone book listings were lost. I
transferred between the exact same handsets.
