E815 and Mobile PhoneTools

I've tried reading through previous posts on this issue, and I'm still
not clear.

I want to be able to transfer contacts from Microsoft Outlook to the
E815. When I bought the phone yesterday, the salesperson sold me
Mobile Office. That doesn't seem to be what I want. I believe what I
need is MPT.

I can buy MPT from Verizon online for $40. It says it's for the 710,
not for the 815. I believe it should work, but, first, I need to make
sure it's the latest version, or once I have it, I can obtain the
latest version somewhere. Second, I want to be sure that the cable it
comes with will work on the 815. If I buy it directly from Motorola,
it's $20 more plus shipping. I'd rather buy it from Verizon if it's
the same.

When I read previous posts, it's very confusing. Who manufactures the
software? Motorola? BVRP?

Is the Verizon product the latest? If not, can I download the latest
free once I've purchased the earlier version? Will the cable work
with the 815?

Thanks for clarifying all of this.

Bob

Re: E815 and Mobile PhoneTools

Anything for the 710 is interchangeable with the 815.

Cables and such, but not necessarily software. For instance, I have
Quicklink Mobile phonebook for my V710, and it won't work with my E815. It
tells me that I need a newer version of the program, but there doesn't
appear to be one.

I bought MPT, software Ver. 3.0, from Verizon with my 815 and it's not
compatible. I contacted BVRP, the software designers for MPT about this and
they replied that they would authorize download of Ver. 3.25b with proof of
purchase, proof being any of the below methods:
1. An email receipt
2. A scanned receipt
3. The part number off the sticker on the CD Sleeve
4. The part number off the CD
5. A scanned copy of the CD
6. We can also verify proof of purchase with:
- BVRP order numbers: begin with 100 and are 10 digits in length,
e.g. 1005123456
- Motorola order numbers: begin with 2965 and are 13 characters
long, e.g. 2965123456789
- Handango Motorola order numbers: are 7 numbers in length.
