roaming in Dominican Republic ?

Does anyone have firsthand experience roaming in the Dominican
Republic . Punta Cana in particular ?

I'd worry more about my sidearm than my cell phone ;-)

Verizon is the local wireless carrier in the DR. They deliver fairly strong
signals in both Punta Cana and Puerto Plata.
