#1 | | Guest | I saw some photos about cell phones that have GPS capability. One phone I
saw was from Siemens. The model # is SXG75, but it looked like it was being
used overseas. I am interested in having the capability to have the phone
show driving directions and a graphical map without having to download
directions/maps all the time. I don't know if the Siemens phone has an
integral hard disk drive, or if it had to dynamically download GPS info..
When will verizon offer GPS phones, and will they need to download info. all
the time?
Thanks,
Stephen R.

a Verizon phone.

#3 | | Guest | Thanks for the fast reply Mike. That phone has the GPS capability I am
interested in learning about, but I will wait for a GPS phone that does not
require a monthly payment to access maps/directions.

#4 | | Guest | After reading the FAQ about the Motorola v325, I checked my E815 and it has
the GPS capability. So I went to "get it now" and there was an option for
"navitime". I am not sure if it is the same as "navigator", but I
downloaded it and was able to use a demo version. It listed 10 minutes
available or something. It works pretty good so far. I need to confirm
pricing before I purchase it and also to see what the monthly charges are if
any. It looks like there is an option to use it on a per day basis.

$1.99/month plus airtime.
It alos looks like a mapping program rather than a "live" GPS display. | | | |

So, you want a GPS unit such as a Garmin that has built in maps but
also has a cell phone included? You may be waiting a while. I think
the V325 or the solution you found on the E-815 is about the closest
you'll get for a while. ANY GPS navigation service through a cell
company will cost you money, unless you get a monthly data plan. I
think with the monthly data plan the EVDO data (what you'd use on the
E-815) will be included, but you'd have to ask a rep about that.

#7 | | Guest | Yes, you're right. I was excited at first, but then disappointed because
the graphics were somewhat decent, but no live GPS updates, just turn by
turn directions and static maps. Oh well. I will look into the navigator
option from Verizon to see what it is about.
