Un-Authorized Charger Message ?

Hello:

Have a brand new V325 Motorola phone.

First few times I plugged the re-charger (the one that came in the phone's
box) into the wall, I got a message that
"Un-Authorized Charger"

But after a few times plugging the cord in and out to the phone, it seems to
be charging O.K.

What's happening ?

Anything to be concerned about ?

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Un-Authorized Charger Message ?

I'll be watching replies to this with interest. Quite often, we get an
"Unable to Charge" message the first time or two we plug in. On the third or
fourth try, it works. This with an OEM charger, too.

Look up "Motorola charging port" or such and you'll find many, many mentions
of problems with the one particular type of charging apparatus (the one from
the v60/815) that has a narrow plug with little tiny spring-loaded pins in
it. Crappy design, and one of a couple of "minor" but annoying complaints I
have with Moto.

Re: Un-Authorized Charger Message ?

You should take it back and ask for a replacement.
Either the charger, phone, or both if that is what
it takes to get rid of the message. It could become
a warranty issue later.

I have a v325 & have not had any problems at all with the phone. And the
reception is the best of any cell I've owned. As for the "spring loaded
pins" design I guess Moto got the message 'cause that is not the setup
for the v325.

Re: Un-Authorized Charger Message ?

Yeah, Moto has names for particular groups of phones. One of them is
"Falcon" I think. One group, which includes the v60 series and the e815,
uses that silly narrow-plug charger setup. Another uses the wide charger
plug with three plastic locator pins. The two end pins lock in when you plug
it in. Probably what's on your v325, I use it on Nextels at work---much
better. Why they didn't use that plug on the e815 ????????????? I'll never
know.
