Getting pictures off a RAZR v3c

I just got a v3c. For some reason it's not at all obvious how to actually
get pictures off the thing (which is a bit of a shock to me!). There was
no computer cable included in the box, though I happen to have a USB-miniUSB
cable already. But when I plug it in WinXP can't find a driver for it.
The included CD just looks like a flash ad. What am I supposed to do?
Surely bluetooth isn't a requirement?

1. You can email the pics to yourself, there's a charge for this.

2. If you phone has a place for a memory card you can save pics to
the card and then read the card on your PC. I believe your phone
does NOT have this so on to 3.

3. You can use Bluetooth, here's how:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=814351

4. You can use Motorola Phone Tools "MPT" software which
can be purchased on Ebay or elsewhere. Don't worry about the
version, once installed you can update it online to the latest
version.
You *may* have to modify the phone to allow connection to your
computer. "Out of the box, the Razr V3C may or may not require Seem
Edits to use the multimedia features of MPT"

Start here: http://www.howardforums.com/
Select the "Verizon" forums and start reading. Here's some other
detailed instructions on editing the seem and if it's necessary or not:
http://mark.cdmaforums.com/ Select the V3C link on the left side of the
page.

Hope this helps.

So the only legit way to get the my own pics off the phone is to pay
verizon for the privlege? Wow, what a cheesy move. That's the last time
I recommend verizon to anyone.

Thanks for the info though!

In a way yes you have to pay Ver to use there phone ... i had the same
problem with girlfriend phone she whanted ringtones and had to buy
them $1.99 a piece till i whent to howard forums and learned how to
unlock at least the part to get the pics and upload ringtones and it
was very easy to do .
But just do yourself a favor...READ and after you do that READ some
more and then READ a bit more and then do what you got to do.
Remember one wrong move and your phone will be just a expensive
paperwheight so again READ.

From all the things i have lost with age
my brain is the one i miss the .........
...............What was i saying????

Re: Getting pictures off a RAZR v3c

"Legit".....??

Seem edits and MPT are not 'illigit'.
(And not hard at all to do)

It's kinda fun and a challenge to make the phone do what you need.

While I do agree it's a bit cheesy" of Verizon, please keep in mind that
first and foremost the cellular NETWORK, should always be your first consideration.
The phones themselves and their features are secondary, or should be. That said,
if Verizon has the best network in your area, you should still recommend them . And
seam edit (if needed), get MPT and your phone will do what you want.

You are forgiven. It is not at all obvious that Verizon's phones are
crippled so that the user has no ability, out of the box, to utilize the
file transfer features in the fully-functional Moto versions. Yes,
Verizon is out to scrape every penny it can from your two-year contract
by requiring you to use their proprietary services that provide
second-rate ringtones. The last that Verizon had anything to say about
this practice is that it is for "security" purposes - meaning that
Verizon shall remain secure in the knowledge that almost all of their
subscribers will pay to play on their phones. If Vz were my company I
might do the same, although the competition might force a change in a
couple of years.

The previous poster pointed you to www.howardforums.com for good reason:
the seem editing is very simple, error free - I think that there are
prepackaged seems so that you don't actually need to do the bit editing.
You can open up some of the native capabilities of the phone very
easily so that you are in partial command of the phone you purchased.

Couldn't resist. If you've stuck those pictures onto the phone... I'd use
wd40, but being careful to not get anything on the display and keyboard.

Seriously: this is why I like the old smart phones: pictures came off/on
with the standard features that came with the phone, you didn't have to buy
anything extra. I think you need the motorola data cable AND associated
software. It is the software that will allow you to query the phone to
push/pull pictures to it. dr.

Re: Getting pictures off a RAZR v3c

I just got a Verizon Razr 3c; and rather than spendiong my time finding out
what it does, I am finding out what Verizon blocked it from doing, and
getting madder and madder every day.

Anyway, careful reading of Motorola's confusing website will reveal that
Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools (which is what I am assuming Dr news is
referring to..) will not work with Verizon:

IMPORTANT NOTE: This downloadable software is fully supported for Cingular
and T-Mobile customers. However, portions of this software's functionality
have been disabled for Verizon or Nextel customers, so Motorola Phone Tools
will not work fully with phones using those carriers. ***If you are a
Verizon customer, all multimedia and internet connection features in this
software will be disabled due to carrier request. **** Please contact your
service provider for further information.

Good luck.

Beware that even these tricks don't provide picture transfer back from
the phone (works only in one direction, from the PC to the phone) if
the phone has been upgraded to the official 4.0 version anyway. MPT
loose the connection to the phone when you try to transfer picture
files back.

Re: Getting pictures off a RAZR v3c

Then I would appreciate your help as I'm unable to get it to work. Here
is what I did:

1. Seem edited 2742/offset 6A/bit 0 set to ON
2. Change the driver for [V3c Rev2] to v3cm by editing the Detect.inf
file, so that MPT shows the multimedia icon

Now I get the icon, I can send a picture to the phoine, but when I try
to get any picture from the phone, I get a message about no-connection
with the phone. What am I doing wrong?

TIA
