I have a Motorola v276 which is easily recognized by Windows XP on COM4
and works (within Verizon's limits) with Motorola Phone Tools 4+.
I have tried many tricks to make the v276 work with BitPim 0.9.05 and
something keeps blocking it. BitPim sees it in the modem list but I
always get "Phone detection failed." I've run the MPT4 DriverTool
v1.0.0.1 and assume I have the latest drivers. Some people have have
claimed that using "Other
CDMA phone" will work with the v276, but there
must be more to it. Has BitPim success only been with non-Verizon phones?
Here is what BitPim shows me, just like Device Manager:
[Settings dialog in BitPim 0.9.05]
Motorola USB Modem. This port is available and can be selected. Your
operating system shows this driver and port is correctly configured and a
device attached.
active: True
available: True - It was possible to open this port

Note that I can use
BREW Apploader vSD.01.0 to overwrite photos and
sometimes download them, but it won't let me open the
/motorola/shared/audio/ folder anymore. The act of uploading some files
to that folder may have blocked something (phone still works fine). I
can't connect to the phone at all using the
BREW-GAGIN patch. Does
someone know where to get "Balpatch9" or newer?
BREW has been my only
route into multimedia so far. DataPilot ($35) seems blocked from
multimedia access. I'd gladly pay for it but it's probably neutered like
MPT4's Multimedia Studio.
I seem to be very close with BitPim and can't give up now. Some people
suggest using a USB port on the back of the computer but that would be
inconvenient and I doubt it matters. My computer only recognizes COM1-
COM4 and it's probably not a ports issue, unless there's a tweak for the
port itself or some ATA command? If someone has truly used BitPim with a
Verizon v276, spare no details! Thanks. N7
